What’s annoying is they don’t tell you, like they should, that replying with ‘STOP’ (which I tried first time) will charge you about £3.50 plus VAT on your phone bill. I keep getting charged £4.50 a week for some trivia service from Submit Media BV. It’s a subscription billed via a shared shortcode, so it’s kinda confusing because other firms use the same code too. If you wanna talk to them, their customer service number is 0330 332 6254. Be careful with these hidden fees!

Trivia Winners offers a quiz game where you can win prizes, but it uses a shared shortcode 66299 that multiple companies share. The cost for this service is £4.50 per week, VAT included. Because it’s billed through this shared shortcode, it’s hard to tell which company you’re actually paying at times.

Got a message from Quiznia saying I’m now signed up to a service costing £4.50 a week. I haven’t the foggiest how they got hold of my phone number and definitely didn’t agree to anything like that. I’m experiencing something quite alike to what others have mentioned. On 10.09.16, I got a FREEMSG telling me I’d signed up to the Quizonia trivia service which costs £4.50 each week. I’m sure I never agreed to this! Even after texting STOP to 66299 to cancel, the exact message popped up again on 15.10.16 and yet again today, 29.10.16. They always come on a Saturday morning every two weeks, so it’s clearly automated. I've also tried ringing the helpline on 0800 4080781 as they say, but with no luck. I’m now planning to get some advice about what to do next.

Got caught out by this firm too, and I’ve never signed up to any service with them. They sent me a message and then charged me £4.50 just for that. When I tried to text ‘stop’ to end it, they charged me again for sending that message. It’s just not right to be charged for texts you never asked for, and it’s crazy that mobile providers let this go on since they take a big chunk of the fees!

I had the same thing happen. Got a message on my answerphone saying I’d unsubscribed, with this number 0800 4080781. They’re sorting out a refund for me - £36 I think. Give that number a ring and pick option 3, see if it works for you.
