It appeared that you were in conversation with BT, but they seemed unable to provide you with the phone number in question. They actually asked you to supply it instead, implying that they might not possess that information in their records.

Got a call from my internet company saying my router would be disconnected in 4 hours unless I pressed 1 to sort it out. Felt a bit dodgy, probably some scam or a pricey number at the end of the line. Best thing to do? Just ignore it and hang up straight away.

Got a ring just after half past seven this morning. I usually don't pick up calls from numbers I don't know, thanks to my call screening. After seeing the comments here, I'm pretty relieved I let it go to voicemail.

I've had the same experience myself. It's evident they're using a fraudulent tactic by disguising their number to look like a genuine toll-free one. Quite crafty, really!

Some dodgy scammers from India have been using this bt landline and broadband number to make fake calls. They target businesses familiar with the number, hoping to trick them. If you get one of these scam calls, make sure you report it to the police. Just look up 'action fraud' on Google, pick the 'police.uk' site, and fill out the phishing report - you don’t even have to sign up or anything.

Got a call from some Indian scammers. I pretended to be clueless for about 20 minutes just to waste their time. They claimed to be from BT but it was obvious straight away it was a fake call. Not falling for it!

I’m based in Plymouth and I’m a Virgin Media customer. Got this automated voice from a woman saying there’s a router issue and my service will be cut off in four hours. It told me to press 1 to chat with customer support for a replacement router, but as soon as I pressed the button the call just dropped. Weird!

I got a robocall saying my internet would be cut off in 4 hours because of some problem with my router. They were just starting to go into that whole “press 1 for options” thing, so I just ended the call and blocked the number straight away. Total scam - whoever’s behind it is just wasting their breath and mine.

Got a robocall today saying something like, "Hi customer, your internet will be cut off in 4 hours because of router issues. Press 1 to speak to your service provider." Sounded dodgy to me, so I’m thinking it’s a scam. I’ll wait and see if my internet actually goes down after that time. Not really fussed. Oh, and the voice was a British woman’s.
