A woman rang my phone claiming to be from Barclays and gave this number. She told me to enter a code on my keypad, saying she would call back to confirm, but since I was driving, my wife answered instead. She also said she'd cancel my card right away!! I got a text from them saying I’d declined a transaction I never made. The guy on the phone called me “polite man” and said loads of direct debits were set up in my account. He asked me to log into the app and share my balances and credit limits. I ended the call straight away and decided to get in touch with Barclays fraud team myself. It just didn’t sit right with me, felt like a scam for sure. The Barclays app delay doesn’t help either, takes ages to update! The number showed up as Barclays when they called and messaged, so I reckon someone’s spoofed their number.

SCAM ALERT I got a call from this number, someone pretending to be from Barclays. It was a lady with a proper English accent. She told me they’d blocked two dodgy transactions on my account, then mentioned they’d opened a new account, giving me a fake account number, sort code, and a made-up name, Josh Gibson. It all felt fishy so I asked for info only the real bank would know, but they couldn’t provide any. I said I’d call Barclays myself, then she just hung up. I reckon they were going to ask me to move money into that fake account. Before this, I also got a text from 03457345345.

I first received a message that showed up on my phone as from BARCIAYS (spelled wrong with an I instead of an L) and it had a ref number 3456789, which made me suspicious right away as it said it was from Fraud prevention. Later on, a polite man called me saying the same thing. I said I don’t have any account with "BARCIAYS" and told him I believed the call was a scam. He quickly ended the call after that.

Got a call from someone saying they were from Barclays fraud team. It was a really articulate woman, sounded like she was from London or somewhere in the South East. She said there was a big payment to Amazon that looked dodgy. Asked me for my card details and to use my pinsentry to check it all. I told her I'd ring back, but she warned me the payment might still go through and that the fraud team was busy with a long hold. I decided to call back despite her saying not to - so glad I did! It was such a clever scam. Always best to ring your bank directly if you’re ever unsure!

Total scam! Got a call from a private number saying they’d call me back from this one. The bloke told me to check it online and claimed it was Barclays. Said he was from Barclays about fraud, that someone had used my card in Manchester, but I live in Derbyshire. He even had my address and account number, asked me about my balance. Thankfully, I had just had a payment go out so the balance was negative. The person then asked “what shall we do, manager?” and hung up. If you get this call, just tell them your account is in the minus and see what happens.

I've had calls from this number loads of times, pretending to be Barclays and trying to get my details.
