There was a long pause and I was just about to end the call when this bloke suddenly said, ‘Good afternoon, I’m Donald’ - he had an American accent, which was odd 'cause it was still morning here. Then, the call just dropped out.

It started off with complete silence, so I hung on for a bit, thinking I might just hang up soon. Suddenly, a woman with a fast pace and strong accent launched into talking about my yellow pages listing - which I don’t even have! She must’ve seen my number on Google since it's linked to my business. When I tried nicely to say I wasn’t interested, she turned nasty and told me to shove off, then just cut me off. Tried calling the number back to have a word but it said the number couldn’t be found. Proper cheeky behaviour.

I got a call from a number starting with 0800 claiming they wanted to offer me a free listing on Yell. The person on the phone spoke so quickly it was hard to keep up, and at first, I thought it might actually be from Yell regarding a business I’m linked to. some woman rang me claiming to be from dot com and said it was about my advert on yell. problem is, i don’t have any advert there. when i asked if she knew about the telephone preference service, she said it’s not a marketing call. she justified it by saying i hadn’t given permission for the call. after a bit of back and forth, i told her if they ring again, i’d report them. i guess i’ll wait and see if that stops it.

I can't quite place who this is. Nonetheless, I’ve noticed it’s typically the same company that persistently gives us a bell. I’ve had a rather unpleasant experience with a company masquerading as Yell. Let me clarify, this isn't the actual Yell! How can I be so sure? Well, for starters, we’ve got a paid listing with them, not one of those complimentary ones. Yet these individuals contacted us claiming they were looking to ‘update’ our so-called free Yell listing. The moment we pressed them with some questions, they promptly hung up. I’d advise anyone dealing with these folks to tread carefully!

I received a call from these individuals, and I must say, it felt rather dubious. I pride myself on being polite, but we make a point to inconvenience them as much as we can. When one of these scammers tries to get through, we kindly request that they hang on while we fetch the appropriate contact. Naturally, we leave them on hold indefinitely, until they either throw in the towel or assume their line’s gone dead and call back. He rattled off the details he had, which I confirmed. Then, he attempted to transfer me to a colleague who wanted to discuss further advertising opportunities. I promptly declined, stating I wasn't interested. The conversation came to an abrupt halt afterwards. I must say, the caller had a distinctly American accent, which might be worth noting. This is quite reminiscent of my previous dealings with Yellow Pages last year, when I had to firmly tell a persistent representative where to go or I would seek legal action for harassment.
