Got a call from a bloke asking if he could remotely access my PC while I was in the middle of activating a brand new Norton licence key. I said no thanks, and he just hung up. Turns out the key had already been used by someone else and I kept getting an error when trying to install it.

I was trying to set up my Norton internet security, but it just wouldn’t install. Then I got directed to some website, and after that my phone buzzed with a call from this guy with an Indian accent. He told me the problem was no firewall on my network, and could sort one for me at £129. I told him I couldn’t afford that, so he lowered the price. That’s when I got a bit suspicious. I shut my laptop down for a while, and when I gave it another go later, it installed properly on its own. I’ll definitely be more cautious next time I’m updating things.

I almost fell for a scam involving Norton while setting up some antivirus software. Some guy from India rang me up, suggesting I download this thing called Google Chrome Browsec. It all started from a chat box that popped up on what looked like a Norton site. Seriously, watch out for stuff like this! Once I got suspicious, I told him I had to leave, but he kept pushing, trying to find out when I’d be free again so he could ring me back!

I was trying to set up Norton Security on my laptop when an error popped up. Not long after, my home phone rang and a bloke claimed he was from Norton. He explained why the software wasn’t functioning properly and offered to send a Microsoft technician to fix it for £129, plus extra charges for installing the Norton antivirus. I told him I wasn’t interested and said he could call back tomorrow. Since then, I’ve had several calls from that number which I’ve just ignored.

While trying to put Norton Security back on my computer, I got an error message. Just a few minutes later, the phone rang and some bloke said he was from Norton. He went on loads about why the software wouldn’t work, using loads of tech jargon. He said he could link me up to a ‘mate’ who was 'Microsoft Certified' and could fix the issue if I paid £129 once. When I told him no way was anyone getting remote access to my PC, he hung up.
Feeling a bit clueless, I then looked up the Norton site and found something called ‘Norton Remove and Reinstall’. I ran it and it sorted everything out.
Hopefully this helps anyone else who might freak out too fast over this kind of thing.

I was trying to add my activation code to Norton on another computer to cover 10 devices, and was quickly redirected to this number. I explained that Norton wouldn’t connect properly on the machine. The person said it was an issue with the website, then took control of my computer remotely. He told me to stay on the call while he checked a few things. I could see him looking through all the computer’s info. He asked about a different email address linked to the account. Then he said to fix the problem, I'd need to download a special program. I asked if I had to pay for it right then through the computer, and he said it was necessary to solve the issue. When I asked the cost, he quoted £199 for one year or £495 for a lifetime license. I told him no, and after that the screen went back to the normal Norton site.

So, I was trying to put Norton Security on my laptop when I got some error message pop up. Almost immediately after, my home phone rang and a bloke said he was calling from Norton. He was explaining why the software wouldn’t install properly, talking all tech stuff which went way over my head since I’m no expert with computers. When he asked if he could fix it and started moving his cursor on my screen, I felt a bit suspicious and just hung up. It might’ve been genuine but these days it’s better to be cautious. I’ve always renewed my Norton without any hassle before.

When I was putting Norton Security on my laptop, I got an error message. Then, just half a minute later, my home phone rang and a guy said he was from Norton. He talked about why the software wasn't working, using all these techy terms. I’m not great with computers, so honestly, none of it made sense to me. When he asked if he could fix it, I quickly said no and hung up. It might have been genuine, but I felt really uncomfortable when he started moving his cursor around my screen.

This number kept ringing me after I’d tried to sort out installing some antivirus software I’d bought from a shop but couldn’t get working. The person on the phone told me I should get another version from their firm instead.
