Got an email supposedly from PayPal from someone named "Beau Villaflor" asking me to pay over £600 for some Kaspersky subscription. It looked super convincing, even included my full name and came from an email like "[email protected]", so it seemed legit at first glance. Still, loads of warning signs said it was dodgy. Really glad I decided to google the phone number mentioned before doing anything. If you get anything like this, always log in directly on the official PayPal site or app, NOT through email links. Better to be safe and change your password if you’re even half suspicious.

Called by someone pretending to be from PayPal, total scam!

Avoid ringing this number - I got a PayPal invoice for a payment I never made. The message told me to ring the number if I didn’t recognise the charge. When I called, it was a hectic call centre. They asked for my PayPal email and then wanted the code sent to my phone. Fortunatey, I quickly searched the phone number online mid-call and spotted it was a clever scam. Watch out, it’s quite convincing!

Someone using the name James Dickerson almost charged my PayPal close to £800 for Waterstones gift vouchers. I received an email saying there was suspicious activity on my PayPal and to ring the 800 number shown. Luckily, I cancelled the transaction directly through PayPal before it went through. Don’t bother ringing that number - just log in to PayPal, block the payment, and change your password for security. I searched for James Dickerson and found zero results, but that 800 number popped up in a few scam warnings online. Watch out!

Got a call telling me some money was taken from my account by PayPal. I didn’t ring that number so I’ll be contacting PayPal directly right away.

Watch out for those PayPal emails, they do look proper legit at first. The tricky thing is, the email seems to come straight from PayPal since it’s genuine, but the real message is hidden inside your actual PayPal account. It’s super confusing! Don’t ever ring the number they give you. These scammers will try to get your password and answers to security questions like your first pet’s name, then they’ll send a text with a code and ask you to read it out to prove who you are. Honestly, it’s all set up really well and quite smart, if I’m honest. If you accidentally give out any info, block your bank cards right away. While I was on the phone with them, they took £15 from my account. Luckily, I got that money back and have ordered new cards. I don’t get how they’re allowed to keep doing this - sounded like the place was full of hundreds of scammers all chatting away at the same time!

This scam is really well done, so watch out! Avoid calling the number (+44 800-368-7664) at all costs. They only want your email to pull off their trick. What happens is they send a fake invoice to your Paypal email, then ring you claiming your account has been hacked and urge you to get in touch with that number. If you do call, they’ll try to scam you. I was lucky to double-check by calling Paypal directly using the number I found on their official site before doing anything.

I got an email and a PayPal money request saying this: MESSAGE FROM Antalaya Spencer: " A Payment of £649.00 GBP has been sent to KASPERSKY™ SECURITY. If you didn’t make this payment, please get in touch with Customer Support on +44-800-368-7664." I logged into my PayPal account right away and blocked the request. Watch out for things like this!

Got a call about a supposed PayPal transaction for £649 that I supposedly had to authorise. It was clearly a phishing trick, trying to get my entire card number plus the 3-digit security code. Definitely a scam.

I got an email from "Kapersky" asking for £649 from this address: [email protected]. Don't fall for it! I told them to cancel right away and absolutely don’t ring the number they've given. I wasn’t expecting it and next thing I know, they’d changed my PayPal password while I was still on the line. Really shocking experience.

I got the same thing, a message with the exact words. Says to log in and stop the request or something like that. Pretty sure it’s not legit.

I recently got caught up in a nasty PayPal scam that seemed so real it nearly fooled me. Someone called pretending my PayPal account had been hacked and there was a suspicious payment pending. It soon hit me that it was all a ploy to trap me. In trying to sort things out, I ended up giving away info that could have cost me a lot. They asked for details to “confirm” my account, which sounded legit at the time. Luckily, I saw through it, hung up straight away and phoned my bank. They acted fast, freezing my account and cancelling my card. I thought I was pretty streetwise, so it’s crazy how close I came to getting scammed. Please be careful and don’t bother calling back that number!

I can't believe this happened to me. They were sending codes linked to my credit card and Paypal account, then somehow made purchases before I had the chance to react. Honestly, I’m kicking myself because I normally wouldn’t be so careless. Now I’m stuck trying to fix the mess. Please, don’t let yourself get caught by something like this!

Got a call from someone pretending to be PayPal, asking for my debit card info. Definitely a scam. Watch out!

I received a PayPal request asking for £649 supposedly for Kaspersky Security, sent by someone called "Cynthia Evans". I ended up ringing the 0800-3687664 number from my home phone today, which was probably daft. I never actually got to talk to anyone; I was just left waiting on hold for about 5 minutes before the line went dead. Since I never spoke to a person, do you reckon my PayPal account could still be at risk? Or could this 0800 number actually be a premium rate one, and the scammers just made some cash from me waiting on the call? Hard to tell really!
