4 yearsI've received a PayPal request for a sum of £649.99 associated with Decathlon vouchers, listed under the name Victor Merrill.Victor Merrill4 yearsI received a notification from Kaspersky Security about an unsuccessful payment via PayPal - it’s a scam! I promptly accessed my PayPal account to reverse the transaction and file a report.Kaspersky SecurityPayPal4 yearsI recently received an email regarding a payment for Decathlon in the UK while I'm situated in Poland. It surely feels like a scam!DecathlonUKPoland4 yearsI've come across some dodgy scams involving PayPal and Amazon recently. It's quite alarming how these fraudulent schemes are out there trying to deceive unsuspecting folks.PayPalAmazon4 yearsI recently received a rather suspicious email from someone named Patricia (can't recall the surname as I've already deleted and blocked the email). The message claimed that £649 had been withdrawn from my account for Decathlon gift vouchers and urged me to ring a specific number if I hadn't authorised it. Naturally, I checked my bank account and thankfully there were no deductions of that sort. Upon logging into my PayPal, I discovered the request and promptly cancelled it. To add to the drama, I was planning to get in touch with PayPal since I'd been struggling to log into my account because of the authentication code they typically send the day before such unsolicited emails. It often takes multiple attempts to request a "resend" of the code, only for me to end up locked out of my account for a while. Consequently, I had to resort to using my credit or debit card, which completely undermines the purpose of having PayPal! The two-factor verification where they send a code via text message for each transaction either fails to arrive or is extremely inconsistent. Anyway, receiving that phishing email today was the tipping point that prompted me to delete my PayPal account altogether. I never keep a balance there-it's merely linked for purchasing purposes. After resolving the login issues, I cancelled the dubious request and swiftly closed my PayPal account since it's no longer serving my needs. This phishing attempt is surprisingly clever, as it mirrors what appears on your account when you log in, leading some to potentially call the number provided. It’s crucial to pause and reconsider-DO NOT call any numbers in unsolicited emails and definitely DO NOT click on links. You could find yourself locked out of your account, leaving the scammers with full control! During my call, I expressed my concerns about the email and how it raises alarm bells about PayPal’s security, given that these fraudsters could manipulate account appearances so effectively. I genuinely worry about how many others may have been duped and lost money as a result. I was already contemplating deleting my account due to the unreliable receipt of authentication codes during purchases or logins, and this phishing incident only hastened my exit. So please, stay vigilant!PatriciaPayPalSubmit Your Own Report (0800 368 6158)
