Received yet another PayPal scam attempt for £749.99 dated 2nd February 2023. It seems these dodgy schemes just keep resurfacing!

I received a phone call claiming they'd taken £800 from my PayPal account.

I received an identical request on my PayPal from someone named David Eland, asking for a payment of £749.99 for Waterstones gift vouchers. I'm going to raise this issue with PayPal and send them the email as well.

I've come across a dodgy PayPal scheme.

I've just received an email from a Charlene Boston that claims there's been some dodgy activity on my account. Apparently, a sum of £749.99 has been taken out for Waterstones gift vouchers. It warned me to get in touch straight away if I didn't make this purchase, providing a phone number: +44-800-368-1827. I've swiftly cancelled and blocked the transaction. What a palaver!

I found myself in a similar situation, so I decided to pull the plug on the request and simply asked for a refund instead, haha!

I can relate to that! I had a similar experience with someone named Derrick Johnson. I went onto PayPal and promptly dismissed the request.

IF THIS WASN'T YOU, PLEASE CONTACT US URGENTLY AT +44-800-368-1827. Overview: Requested amount £698.00 GBP Total £698.00 GBP Just a heads up, this tactic is quite devious and could easily target those who are more susceptible. I've duly reported this to PayPal; however, it seems they're recycling various names (and likely an array of email addresses too). If anyone should fall prey to such schemes, I strongly recommend reaching out to PayPal and urging them to reverse any unauthorised payments since they ought to have safeguards (just like banks) in place to deal with fraudulent transactions and protect users. It’s high time they are held accountable for allowing such scams to flourish on their platform!

Received a dubious phone call today. It was a supposed PayPal payment request prompting me to call a number that isn’t affiliated with them. The request appears in your PayPal notifications, but don’t be fooled! You can easily cancel it through the website or by contacting PayPal directly. Whatever you do, steer clear of that number! They’re just fishing for your banking information and other personal details. Stay cautious!

Saylor Debra has just sent over a request for funds. MESSAGE FROM Saylor Debra: "ALERT! We've detected suspicious activity linked to your account. A transaction of £749.99 has been taken for the purchase of Waterstones vouchers. If you didn't authorise this, please get in touch with us right away at +44-800-260-6943."

It seems I've stumbled upon the same "PAYPAL" con that others have mentioned, alleging a major expenditure of £749.99 for a WATERSONS gift voucher. Not too long ago, I received a similar message, albeit from a different number and claiming a different PayPal transaction, but fundamentally the same concept and amount that others have reported. Quite intriguingly, my UK credit card isn't put to frequent use, yet both emails emerged shortly after I used it a mere couple of times - once for an actual purchase with EASYJET and another with Ticketmaster. Earlier this summer, I fell prey to unauthorised activity on a NON UK credit card following numerous reservations made through BOOKING.COM, a site based in the Netherlands. That fraudulent activity was linked to UBER TAXI in India, billed under UBER Netherlands. So, one has to wonder - have some of these companies faced a security breach, or is there potentially a rogue employee involved?

I received four emails simultaneously, which struck me as odd. I refrained from phoning the number and didn't engage with any links; instead, I logged directly into my PayPal. To my dismay, I found four requests for payment from someone named Wyndie Moomaw, each for £749.99. I promptly cancelled all of them and decided to investigate the number on this site.

If you fancy, you can keep dialling them up (keeping your number private) to throw a spanner in their scam works. It won’t cost you a penny from anywhere in the UK!

I experienced a rather dodgy scam myself, which oddly enough popped up on my PayPal account. The caller, who insisted on asking for my mother’s maiden name (which I, perhaps foolishly, provided), then proceeded to request my debit card details. Naturally, I declined to share that information. The bloke on the other end, who called himself ‘Michael’, didn’t quite sound like a ‘Michael’ if you catch my drift. He even asked me to ring back, which I found rather peculiar. It's still lingering on my PayPal account, and the whole situation feels rather off, to say the least.

Previous contributor: It seems they're misusing a compromised PayPal account to fire off payment requests to arbitrary email addresses-completely oblivious to whether these correspond to actual accounts. If you can, just disregard the request or send it to the bin if that's an option.

I received four emails and upon accessing my account, I discovered that there were four monetary requests from someone named Sue Moosdorf. I promptly cancelled all of them and made sure to report the activity to PayPal using their official contact number.
