Seems like they’re just checking if your number’s active, probably to ring back later pretending to be from an insurance claims dept. Best bet is to either play along for a bit, maybe 20 mins, and then tell them you know what they’re up to. Or just block the number straight away :)

These two numbers 0800 358 4432 and 0800 358 4146 ring me up about twice every day, they just stay silent and then drop the call. Lately, I’ve had quite a few calls from very similar numbers, just the last digits change. It’s all a scam, really. A woman claims to be from a car insurance company and says my car’s been involved in an accident and they need to sort a claim. I usually just tell them to get lost straight away.
