Today I got an envelope with my name and address on it telling me to call this number about something important. How on earth did they get my details? There was no letterhead or any info about who sent it, just nothing to show who they really are. I only just moved into my new place in Wellington, so how did they know my name and where I live? And they didn’t give any ID or proof either. Really sketchy if you ask me.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from the Philippines. They wouldn’t say what company they’re from unless I gave them my info first. They sent a weird card with no company name or return details, just a note asking me to ring about something urgent. The envelope had an Albany address on it. Bit suspicious if you ask me.

Got a letter through the post for someone who passed away back in June 2021, and they didnt owe anything, yet the note said to ring 0800 356 535 about something important. When I phoned, it went through to some call centre in the Philippines. They said their name was Bay Corp but wouldnt say much more than that. Dodgy if you ask me. (9 February 2022)

Lol these people are hilarious. They claimed to be from Baycorp, supposedly ringing from the Philippines, but we’re in New Zealand. I spoke to some bloke called Josh, but he refused to share any surname and said they can’t provide a letterhead because it’d breach privacy or something. Such a load of rubbish. Just a heads up to anyone who gets contacted by them, it’s definitely a scam.

My son got a message from a number without any company details, telling him to ring 0800356535 sometime between 7:30 in the morning and 8:30 at night, Monday to Friday. It said it was about something important. It was signed off as Customer service 310363619343 or something like that.

I received a message via Telegram concerning a relative, so I decided to ring this number. However, the person who picked up wouldn’t shed any light on what their company or enterprise is. All they were willing to share was the brief name BCS??????. They then claimed that the Privacy Act barred them from disclosing any additional information. We explained that our intention wasn’t to confront the reason these folks were reaching out, but rather to ascertain who they actually are. It’s now become clear to us that they are associated with Bay Corp.
