I rang the DWP and they told me they only get in touch with people who are currently claiming UC, and they never call on Sundays. They said the call I got wasn’t from them and seems like it was a spoofed number. If you pick up, ask them to send something in the post so you can check if it’s really from the DWP. Don’t share any personal info on the phone unless you’re absolutely sure who you’re speaking to.

Got a call from this number, they already had my name and asked for my bank and personal info. Told me to call back with the details but I didn’t bother. I don’t even claim benefits so it made no sense. If they were legit, I doubt they’d ask that kinda stuff over the phone. Ended up just hanging up on them straight away.

Someone should probably tell the DWP that scammers are using one of their numbers, even if it shows how rubbish the government is at handling stuff. Maybe that’d push them to actually sort it out.
