Phone number ☎️ 0800302011 👆 is reported as a genuine Nationwide phone number but heavily spoofed by scammers who use it to impersonate the bank and attempt fraud. Numerous users report receiving convincing calls and texts claiming suspicious transactions or account issues, often pressuring for personal or security info. Callers sometimes have strong or foreign accents and can know some account details, raising concern about data breaches. Nationwide confirms they don’t call customers unsolicited and urge contacting them directly via numbers on cards or official sources. Beware of scammers demanding card reader codes or transfers to ‘safe accounts’. While actual Nationwide staff do use this number, many warn not to trust incoming calls from it without verification due to widespread fraud and number cloning.

Got a call from someone claiming to be Nationwide, but kept grilling me for all sorts of passwords and personal info. The woman on the line spoke with a thick Indian accent and hung up pretty quickly. Felt a bit dodgy to me.

This is the official Nationwide number for you to contact them, but watch out if you get a call from someone claiming to be them as scammers are really crafty nowadays. NEVER share your details or any OTP codes. Just hang up and phone the bank directly using the number on the back of your card.

Got a few texts saying they’re from Nationwide, saying some James Whittle has been put on my account as a payee. Thing is, I don’t even have an account with Nationwide, and I’ve never heard of James Whittle. Pretty clear it’s a scam to freak me out and get me to ring them up.

Got a call from someone pretending to be Nationwide. They wanted to "confirm" a bank loan I supposedly asked for. When I told them I never applied for anything, they started grilling me about my account and transactions. I said I wouldn't share any info and they just hung up. They called back later but I just ignored it. Glad I looked up this site first. Then I called the real customer service to report it to the fraud team.

Someone called acting like they was from Nationwide bank security. They asked if I’d gotten a dodgy email about my TV licence, which turned out I had. I rang Nationwide about lost cards, but the call I took wasn’t really from them. While I was on my mobile, the scammer rang me back on my landline to check if I’d fallen for their trick.

Some lady with a British accent rang me saying she was from Barclays. She began asking about other accounts I might have, which seemed a bit off, so I probed a bit more. After that, she lost interest and just hung up. Now I’m trying to contact my banks to see if anything dodgy has happened.

They pretended to be from Nationwide's fraud team but it was a total con. I could even hear the bloke chuckle when he fumbled with the usual Nationwide spiel. I had real fraud on my card just a few weeks back and Nationwide sent a proper text asking me to ring them straight away to check if it was genuine. Just hang up when they call.

Yesterday I got a call from a bloke with a strong English accent who claimed to be from Nationwide. He had my bank details including account number and sort code, and even knew my security question answers. He told me my accounts were at risk because there’d been transfers to Germany linked to some dodgy BMW scams. He proceeded to explain three supposed scam attempts that ‘Nationwide’ had allegedly stopped. Then he asked me to create a ‘safe account’ with him, basically moving all my money over. When I refused, he just hung up. Absolutely do not pick up if you get this call!

He phoned my wife and even when she tried to end it so she could ring Nationwide herself, he wouldn't stop ringing back. Got a call from a woman claiming to be with Nationwide. She said there was a dodgy £145 purchase at Argos. Seemed quite believable. Did loads of "security" questions and even guessed the first and last letter of my mum's maiden name. Said Nationwide would look into it and wanted to record the call as proof. Mentioned my account was compromised and I'd get a new account number and sort code. When I asked if it was a totally new account, she said no. That felt off to me. Then she told me I just needed to move my money to the new account. More to come in next comment.

I looked up the number she was calling from and ended up on this site. After reading the comments, I ended the call and phoned Nationwide myself. They confirmed it was a scam. This is an actual Nationwide phone number, but keep in mind Nationwide doesn’t just ring you without warning. Scammers are using this number to trick people at the moment. Looks like a scam pretending to be Nationwide. The number showed up legit and even had an address matching Nationwide. When I rang back, there was an automated voice that sounded real, and then a woman answered saying she was from the security team!!! This number isn’t some dodgy 'red' flagged one. It’s actually a legit Nationwide contact. However, scammers might fake this number, which poses quite a risk. Someone shared on 02/02/20 some solid advice on how to handle calls from your bank to stay safe from scams. Worth having a look at it.

Beware of fraudsters pretending to be Nationwide. They've faked Nationwide's phone number so it appears like they're ringing from a legit Nationwide line. Even if the call sounds real, just say you'll ring back and dial the number on the back of your card. Don’t share any details with them. If it’s actually Nationwide, they won’t mind you calling the official number. But if it’s scammers, they’ll get annoyed quickly.

Definitely a scammer, my phone showed it as Nationwide but don’t trust that always. They’ve called me a few times before saying I have two direct debits - one for about £80 and another near £300, supposedly for a car dealer. Watch out, this isn’t legit.

This number phoned my missus warning of some dodgy activity on her account. They said it was about her HSBC account but the number supposedly belongs to Nationwide. Neither of us has ever had an account with Nationwide. The caller didn’t ask for any info but told her to check a website said to be from HSBC, only it took her to a sketchy looking address ([#]payeeauthuk[###]/hsbc). Proper dodgy stuff. The number appeared as an authentic Nationwide contact when they rang me. They claimed to be from Nationwide’s fraud department and said someone had used my card to make a dodgy purchase at Homebase for £1050. They asked about how many accounts I had and roughly the balances for ‘security purposes’, but not my personal info. They said they’d ring back later when I was home and could access my card reader. Got a call from a bloke with an Aussie accent saying there was weird activity on my Nationwide account. He claimed the spending was all happening in Manchester but I’m based in Wales. He mentioned three payments supposedly made on my card, but I checked online and they weren’t there. He said they had to cancel my debit card and asked for the number, start and expiry dates. He also told me my account was being switched to a new one and gave me a sort code 55-70-49 and account no. 83769587. BE WARNED, THIS IS A SCAM MIMICKING NATIONWIDE’S ACTUAL NUMBER!!!

This is a legitimate Nationwide phone number, as you can see from the message above the map. HOWEVER, scammers now spoof nearly every bank or building society number out there, so it’s impossible to be 100% sure if a call’s real. If you get a call or text from your bank, listen carefully but don’t confirm anything. End the call, make sure your line is free, then ring your bank back straight away using the number on your card. Don’t wait too long in case there’s a real problem with your account. Other folks have mentioned the same thing in the comments below.

Total scam! Was really believable and didn’t ask for any passwords or account details. The person claimed to be from Nationwide’s fraud team and asked if I’d made a £3,000 purchase at Homebase. They said they’d blocked the transaction and froze my cards, then claimed my whole account was hacked by something called an ATS virus or something. Said they needed to switch all my accounts and internet banking. When they asked me to move my money “to a new account,” I got nervous and phoned Nationwide using a different phone. Turns out it was all fake, and my account was fine.

This number looks like it’s from Nationwide but honestly, they don’t call people out of the blue. I picked up and when I asked who it was, the bloke started swearing at me, proper rude stuff (you f****** w****** + all sorts). These are fraudsters using some tech to make it seem like a real number. What worries me is how they had my full name, account info (you don’t ever need this for card buys!), and my phone number. Never give out any details to anyone calling from this number. When I tried to ask them questions about who they were, they got really defensive. The person on the phone asked me to use my card reader, but since I didn’t have it handy, he said he’d ring me back in about 3 hours when I’d have it with me. The moment they mentioned the card reader, I got really suspicious. When he called back, I pretended to go along with it and gave him some random codes. Then he told me to move money from my bank to some “secured” account.

they rang me last year and again just yesterday, but wouldn’t provide any real info, only the last 4 digits of my card when i asked last year. i ended up cancelling my card through the banks website and reported it using that number they told me it was a scam. def a warning here, banks will NEVER call you directly so never give your details out! they’re trying to drain your account!

This is a COMPLETE rip-off. Lost thousands of pounds over the weekend. The person said they were from Nationwide and was really rude. I've told the local police about the number.

I phoned 0800302011 earlier today as I had a question about one of my Nationwide cards. This number was shown on one of their official pages. They responded quickly and I got the details I was after.

Just ignore the call, no point in picking up.

####This is definitely Nationwide's phone number, you can verify it on their official site.#### But just seeing this number pop up doesn't automatically mean it's really Nationwide calling you. If you get a call from here, simply say you'll end the call and ring the company back yourself. Any real Nationwide staff member won’t have a problem with that. IF YOU'RE NOT SURE, JUST HANG UP AND DIAL THE NUMBER FROM THEIR OFFICIAL WEBSITE (Speaking as someone who works at Nationwide).

Got a call from this number but when I picked up, it was dead silent, no one on the other end. Tried looking it up but couldn’t find any info about it anywhere?

Received a call earlier today claiming to be from Nationwide, wanting to have a chat with my husband. Unfortunately, he wasn't around at the time, so I mentioned that the account is joint and that they could just speak with me instead. The bloke on the other end seemed completely disinterested and insisted he could only discuss matters with my husband. Naturally, I took it upon myself to investigate the number afterward and discovered it’s a scam. Best advice? Don’t divulge any information to them. What a load of rubbish!

Got a call from this number. A woman said she was 'Lisa' from Nationwide and claimed my card had been used 3 times at the Gatwick Hilton for £1700 each time. I had a feeling it was a scam so I asked her to confirm my address. She said she’d run me through some security questions but then skipped that and just asked if I still had the card. When I said 'yes', she told me to read out the full card number. I responded, 'Do you really think I’m that bloody daft?' she shot back, 'you sound bloody daft to me!' So I told her to shove her scam and hung up.

Got a call from this number claiming to be Nationwide. The person said there was an attempt to take £950 from my account fraudulently. They asked if I’d approved it, and I said no. Then the lady asked if I’d lost my bank card, which I hadn’t. Next, she asked for my card number and that’s when I realised it was a total scam. WATCH OUT FOR THESE CON ARTISTS BEFORE THEY GET TO YOU.

I got a call from this number - 0800302011. It was an automated message claiming to be from HMRC, saying there’s a tax fraud issue against me and to press 1 or else I’d be arrested soon. I did press 1 and instantly got connected to someone. I’ve dealt with HMRC before and usually it’s loads of menu options then a long wait (even when my accountant calls). The person I spoke to had an Indian accent and immediately asked if I had a lawyer. I told him no, plus I’m on income support so I don’t think I owe any tax. Then he just ended the call.

Got a call from 0800 302011 saying they were from Nationwide Fraud team. They sounded really legit but it's a total scam. I rang Nationwide myself and found out that although 0800 302011 is one of their free numbers, no one from Nationwide actually calls out from that number. Watch out!

Got three texts over the past few days saying I’ve added new payees. I only have one Nationwide account connected to one of my kids, and that kind of account doesn’t even have payees. I never confirm bank details through my phone (I use different methods), so I’m certain this is a scam. Still, some of the names they’re using are quite amusing!

Got a text too saying if I hadn't got the Nationwide Banking App, I should ring them. I haven’t got it - my kids have Nationwide accounts but not me. Though any account numbers would still be linked to me. Figured it was just a scam to trick you into phoning that number.

Good job I picked up when this 0800 302011 rang, as they warned me about some dodgy activity on my bank account. The woman on the phone sorted it all out without asking for any sensitive info like my card details or anything like that. She even sent out a new card to me, which turned up this morning. I was a bit suspicious at first, but after receiving the card and confirming with Nationwide, it was legit. Really grateful for the fraud team sorting this out.

Yep, this number does belong to Nationwide’s mortgage new business dept, but I’d still suggest double checking any calls you get from unknown numbers to be on the safe side.

If this number rings you, it’s a scam - I got in touch with Nationwide and they said fraudsters can spoof their number to make calls. The callers act like they’re from Nationwide’s fraud squad and ask for personal info to get into your accounts - really convincing stuff. I ended the call and contacted Nationwide straight away, and it was a trick. Watch out!

Never pick up if you see this number calling! They rang me claiming to be from Nationwide’s fraud team, making up fake charges that they said had been taken from my bank. They insisted I use my card reader to move money to another account. Don’t fall for it. Luckily, I was aware this was a con and told them off. I got in touch with the genuine Nationwide afterwards who confirmed it wasn’t them. Keep your details to yourself and stay careful!

Beware, got a call from someone pretending to be from Nationwide’s helpline. The call sounded a bit strange, no background noise like a call centre, and the connection kept cutting out. The bloke spoke quite nicely but kept stammering a bit, saying there were attempted transactions that hadn’t gone through yet. He seemed really prepared, answering every question we had like he’d practised it all. I rang the official 0800 302010 number for Nationwide afterwards and they told me they hadn’t called us at all. Total scam, watch out!

The number on the back of my Nationwide card is actually their official customer service line. I got in touch with them and they told me fraudsters are pretending to be from this number to swindle money from folks' accounts. According to the bank, even if they switched the number, the scammers would just copy the new one as well. Seems like there’s not much they can do to stop it.

Beware of 0800 30 20 11 - it’s extremely risky. This number is actually printed on the back of Nationwide debit cards as their Customer Service line. I had someone call saying they were from their Fraud Dept, then told me to log into my account online and move money to a different sort code and account. I reckon the scammer can view your banking details in real-time while you’re logged in. I’ve raised a serious complaint with Nationwide and also notified ActionFraud about this scam attempt.

0800302011 - BE WARNED, DO NOT PICK UP OR RETURN CALLS FROM THIS NUMBER. WHEN I TRIED TO CALL BACK, IT SOUNDED JUST LIKE IT WAS THE REAL NATIONWIDE, BUT IT WAS A SCAM. I LOST £2000 AFTER SOME FRAUDSTERS PRETENDING TO BE FROM THE FRAUD TEAM CLAIMED THEY WERE CHECKING MY BANK TRANSACTIONS OVER THE PHONE. I CAN’T IMAGINE HOW THEY GOT PAST MY THREE PASSWORDS, ITS MAD!
