I noticed a charge on my PayPal for £989 from someone called Cheryl Neace, but I hadn’t a clue what it was about. There was a message saying something like “The payment of £989.00 GBP for Tether (USDT) via PayPal has gone through. If you don’t recognise this or want to cancel it, call Customer Service on +44-800-260-6915.” It felt a bit dodgy, so I checked the number here to see if it was legit, and turns out it’s just another scam. This is the first suspicious thing I’ve seen from PayPal. I’ve gone ahead and stopped the payment.

I've just spotted a request for £998 on my PayPal account. Thankfully, I checked this site before making any calls.

Sick to death of these irritating cold calls!

I received a rather dodgy email from these con artists attempting to swipe my PayPal login info. They urged me to ring this number to sort out what they claimed was a suspicious transaction linked to my PayPal account. Absolutely outrageous!

Be careful with this number, they try to trick you by claiming they're from PayPal and ask you to log into your banking apps to approve payments to them. I got off lightly though, nearly got caught out!

Echoing what others have mentioned, this is clearly a clever ruse. I'd advise against dialling the number provided in that message and, instead, go straight to your PayPal account to cancel the transaction there. I got an email from PayPal claiming to request payment, which included the dodgy phone number: “Your Payment of £989.00 GBP for Tether (USDT) via PayPal has been completed. If this payment doesn’t ring a bell or you wish to cancel it, please get in touch with our Customer Service at +44-800-260-6915.” The email seemed to be from “Robbie Gallegos”. PayPal is aware of this scam, as mentioned on their support page. Sadly, I reckon many unsuspecting individuals will fall for this trick, what a pity!

Big thanks to everyone who flagged this earlier. I got an email asking me to pay £989 via PayPal, seemed legit at first, but decided to look up the number here beforehand. When I logged into my account, I saw the payment was actually pending! Managed to stop it in time and have now sent the email over to [email protected]. Looks like it's connected to crypto stuff!

Got an email supposedly from Paypal with a phone number, so I decided to check Paypal directly. Turns out the money was legit taken from my account! Definitely not Paypal’s actual number though. Really scary stuff.

It's absolutely dreadful. This number has been popping up in dodgy MoneyTransfer requests aimed at PayPal accounts. They're using this number to impersonate PayPal's support team, making it look like you absolutely must ring them to sort out a fraudulent transaction. But honestly, it only makes matters worse! If you want to handle such situations, the best course of action is to cancel the transaction directly through PayPal. Unfortunately, it seems PayPal lacks any proper channels for reporting this type of scam.

Refrain from using the link in this email to access your PayPal account. Make sure to log in the standard way as you normally would and check your payment requests. I found a request sitting there from someone named Darnell Riley, asking for a rather hefty sum of £989 for Tether USDT. Simply hit CANCEL to get rid of it.

I just got a message from PayPal that has raised some serious concerns. The message supposedly from Kenneth Davidson said: “Your payment of £989.00 GBP for Tether (USDT) has been successfully processed via PayPal. If this isn’t a payment you acknowledge or if you’d like to reverse it, please ring our Customer Service at +44-800-260-6915.” While the PayPal message itself looks legit, I can assure you that the payment request is entirely dodgy. If any of you have come across something similar, do hop onto your PayPal account straight away to sort out any discrepancies and cancel any suspicious transactions. Stay safe!

I recently got an email purportedly from PayPal, signed by a chap named Phillip Oshields. Thinking I'd done my due diligence, I rang the number listed on their site. It took me a good half an hour to figure out that I’d fallen for a scam and had inadvertently shared some sensitive information. I can't help but feel like a right fool! Now, I've had to cancel my cards and notify numerous people about the situation. I can only hope I’m in the clear now. Please, be vigilant out there!

I got an email from PayPal and, believing it to be legitimate, I decided to ring the number provided. It didn’t take long for me to figure out something was amiss - after I shared my email, they informed me they’d be sending a security code to my phone. The twist? It was a code for resetting my password! Once I confronted them about this oddity (without disclosing the code, mind you), they abruptly cut the call. Now I’m a bit worried there might be charges from a premium rate number involved. Take heed - steer clear of that number in any PayPal correspondence!

I too got an email from PayPal regarding a request for £989. I quickly signed into my PayPal account, cancelled the request, and updated my password. I then had a chat with the folks at PayPal's Dublin office, and they were extremely helpful, assuring me that everything's sorted and my account is safe. I echo what others have said - steer clear of that scam number in the email and reach out to PayPal directly instead.

I can't believe how naive I've been! I just received a message from what seemed to be PayPal, quite convincingly requesting my approval for a staggering £989. In my foolishness, I ended up divulging my card details-including the numbers on the back-and even the name of my first school. Please, whatever you do, don't contact the number provided in that email. I'm frantically trying to reach out to all my banks and credit card firms now. I feel like such an idiot! And I'm absolutely livid with myself! To top it off, I foolishly shared my email address as well.

I encountered something similar recently. I stumbled upon an app labelled as 'Number', but it quickly became evident that it was a con when they requested my entire debit card details! It was quite alarming and the level of sophistication in this scam was unsettling!
