I got a call supposedly from the Dept for Work and Pensions saying there was dodgy activity on my National Insurance number. When I picked up, an automated voice came on saying there might be fraud and to press 1 to talk to someone. I knew it was a scam, so I pressed 1 just to see what would happen. The moment I mentioned it sounded fishy, the person hung up straight away. Official govt numbers usually start with 0800 731, not 252 like this one did.
