2 yearsToday I got a letter that looked pretty official from Santander claiming I’m due a refund for something back in 2011. They want me to send my bank details to get the money back, but it feels dodgy to me. The letter has a phone number but when I called it, there was no dial tone or anyone answered. I tried searching online for Santander’s contact number but couldn’t find one easily. So, I’ve ended up dropping an email to their fraud department to check things out.Santander2 yearsJust like you, I got a letter from Santander saying I’m owed £48.49 for some credit card dispute with Debenhams from 2012. They asked me to send over my bank details to get the refund. I looked up the phone number on the letter, 0800 234 6062, and found out it’s linked to credit card scams. So anyone who gets something like this, be careful and double-check before sharing any info!SantanderDebenhams2 yearsGot a letter claiming I could get a refund on an old credit card. I rang Santander using the number from their official website and they had no clue about it. They told me to visit a branch, but there isn’t one nearby, so that’s not happening! When I asked the woman on the phone if the number on the letter was actually theirs, she couldn’t find it anywhere on her system. The letter was super convincing though! They wanted me to enter my bank details for the refund - no way am I falling for that!Santander2 yearsOn 5/11/24, a letter about a refund for a Debenhams credit card turned up. We looked up the phone number online and quickly found out it was a scam!Debenhams2 yearsBack in 2013 I was told to drop a handwritten note off at my bank's branch for them to look into it. The envelope they sent looked like it was from Santander, but I reckon they’re really hoping folks will just call the number on the letter instead. Best to stay sharp. Also, if you check your bank’s website, there’s often a place in your account where you can see all the letters they’ve sent out to you.Santander2 yearsGot a letter from Santander saying they're giving me back some money that was missed when I returned something on my old Debenhams credit card ages ago, must be from 2012. They sent a form asking for my bank info to pay me back. Pretty weird coz I thought they’d already have my account details? Plus, I haven’t used that credit card in well over seven years, so a refund from that long ago feels a bit strange. They also gave a phone number to call if I had questions, but still seems a bit dodgy to me.SantanderDebenhamsSubmit Your Own Report (0800 234 6062)
