I just stepped away from my laptop for a few minutes and when I came back, the screen was covered in scary warnings telling me to ring 'Microsoft Support'. I managed to close it down using ctrlaltdelete, then rebooted and cut off the internet. It definitely doesn’t look like a real Microsoft contact. While I was reading a VIAUG article titled "Locals Discover Tank in River," this so-called Microsoft alert showed up out of nowhere. The fake warning locked me out of my laptop, and there was a recorded message trying to scare me into calling that number, with some kind of loud siren playing behind it. I ended up having to force my laptop to shut down and reboot just to get back to my browser and all my files.
