Got a call about our business smart meter, they wanted to check how the installation was and had some questions. But the moment I said we never got one fitted, they just ended the call straight away.

I got a call from someone claiming to be with Eon, asking about my smart meter installation. When I asked which property she was referring to since I manage several, she couldn’t give me any details. Then when I pressed her a bit more, she just ended the call. If this number rings you, best to just ignore it and hang up.

On the 25th of October, 2017, around midday, a woman visited my residence to conduct a neighbourhood safety survey. She introduced herself as Sue Firth, representing a market research firm affiliated with Accent Surveys. During our conversation, she assured me that none of the details I provided would be shared with any outside entities. At the conclusion of the survey, she handed me a £5 Love2shop voucher, but I felt rather put out as I wasn’t given the opportunity to review the document I was signing, although she insisted it was merely a formality related to the survey. Later that afternoon, I received a follow-up call from the number 08001958008, and the caller, Lynn Riley, wanted to ensure that everything was satisfactory. I confirmed that it was all fine. However, when I tried ringing that number back, I was met with silence. Quite puzzling, if you ask me!

Got a call where they asked for my missus by her first name. When I said she was out working, the person asked if they could call again later. I asked what it was about, and they said she’d taken part in a survey. Then they just hung up. Later on, my wife said she had no clue who they were.

Hello there! I find myself in a rather similar predicament. Just a short while ago, I received a call purporting to be from TFL, asking for my personal information. Naturally, I got a bit suspicious, so I rang them back, only to be greeted by a robotic message. Is there anything I ought to be aware of regarding this?

I keep receiving calls from the same number at really inconvenient hours, and it's always showing as ‘unknown’. I reckon it’s wise to just give them a miss!

I usually just ignore calls from numbers I don’t recognise, way too many dodgy scams going around now. It’s best not to share any personal info with strangers on the phone.

I had a call from someone claiming to be with TfL the other day. Since I'm a cabbie in London, I thought it would be worthwhile having a chat with this fellow, who introduced himself as Arthur. He mentioned he was conducting a survey and seemed to have quite a few of my details at hand-just the general kind, mind you, nothing like bank info. At the time, it all seemed above board, but after hanging up, I couldn't shake off this nagging feeling of uncertainty. Reassessing now, I'm beginning to wonder if it was on the up and up after all!

Could this possibly be a research firm?
