I've had calls from this number before, turns out it's connected to Lloyds Bank's complaints team. Even if you reckon you don't have an account with Lloyds, you might actually be with Halifax or Bank of Scotland, as they’re part of the same group. When they ring, it’s usually because there’s something you need to sort out. They won’t give away your details over the phone, but after confirming they’re talking to the correct person, they’ll explain the reason behind the call. If they’re not sure who they’re speaking to, they prefer to follow up with a letter instead.

I got a call from this person three times today claiming to be from Lloyds Bank about a complaint. By the third call, I was getting annoyed but let her talk for a while. I told her I didn’t have any complaint with Lloyds. Then she asked if my number ended with 884, saying she’d sent me a text and an email. I told her I hadn’t seen either. She replied she’d send a letter next. When I asked what address she had, she said she couldn’t share any more details. At that point, I said I thought it was a scam and that I would report her. Then I just hung up.

This has gotta be a scam for sure, I didn’t pick up since I never trust numbers I don’t know. From what I’ve read, these calls pretend to be from places like Lloyds bank, Halifax, or even window cleaners and funeral services. Best to just ignore them, I’ve heard they’re even using voice cloning to try and get into your bank accounts, just by you saying hello! Definitely block these numbers straight away.

Got a call but when I picked up, there was nothing on the other end. Looked it up here and some say it’s Lloyds Bank. Yesterday I got another call from a different number, 088 169 7762, saying they were Lloyds Premier about my account. Seemed kinda dodgy but they did mention I’m a premier customer and left a voicemail saying they’d ring again later and said no need to worry. Feels a bit fishy though.

I can confirm this is a legit number. I got a call from Lloyds who had spotted a scammer trying to get into my account while I was on my landline. The fraudster was super convincing but there were a few things that gave it away. For one, the caller ID was withheld. They claimed there were dodgy direct debits linked to my account from firms like SMILE, THE CLEANING WAREHOUSE and IKEA. They also seemed to know loads about my business, which made it tricky to spot at first. Thankfully, Lloyds handled the whole situation brilliantly.

I rang the 0345 number on my Halifax card to check, and they said it’s a scam! Halifax confirmed they never tried to contact me and told me not to return the call. I’ve now blocked the number. Just got a call from 0800 169 7762, some woman said she was Sarah Belcher from Lloyds complaints team. Felt a bit iffy about it though, cause loads of scammers pretending to be from Lloyds have rung me before. I usually just ignore anyone saying they’re from Lloyds Bank. They’ve got loads of different companies under their name, like Halifax, Natwest, RBS, and Black Horse Finance, so can’t really be sure who’s legit on a call. I don’t trust calls from banks on the phone at all, I prefer to go in person to my local branch instead.

I had several calls from this number on 30th August 2024 - one at 9:55 in the morning, another at 9:57, again at 10:04, then one at 14:22, and the last one at 16:12. I’ve since blocked the number through BT. When I called it back, I was informed it was Lloyds Banking Group reaching out and that they’d try again at a more suitable time. However, I can't fathom why they'd need to get in touch with me, and I’m convinced this is just a dodgy scam call.

It’s definitely not Lloyds or any of the banks people are mentioning; banks wouldn’t ring you from a +44 number. (I think some of those folks claiming it’s Lloyds might be in on the scam 🙄) Always make sure to verify the real bank phone numbers and never share your details with these scammers. Just block them straight away!

I raised an issue with Lloyds about my bank statements arriving in the post showing the paid out amounts before the paid in, which seemed odd. However, when I asked for printouts directly at a Lloyds branch for the very same personal account, the statements showed paid in transactions first, then paid out. To make things worse, I was given two separate reference numbers for the same complaint! I tried calling Lloyds on 0800 169 7762 where a rep named Jason Hoose ended up dismissing my concerns. Just a heads up - I've heard this number is also popular with scammers.

Just to add to what I mentioned earlier, it turns out it was Halifax calling after all. I’d contacted their data protection team about it. Apparently, that number is used across lots of Lloyds Banking Group sectors for outgoing calls. But watch out, because scammers might fake the number to make it look like the bank is ringing.
