I've been inundated with a barrage of automated calls recently, all of them pleading for a certain Mr Paul Robinson. Occasionally, they switch it up and ask for a Christopher Green, and now and then, I get someone blathering on about a David something-or-other or a Graham something-or-other. They seem absolutely desperate for a callback regarding a person I've no clue about. It's beyond irritating and unmistakably a dodgy scam.

Our 14-year-old lad has been getting a number of silent calls from this number, and he only received the phone as a Christmas gift.

Absolutely a scam, that one. It’s certainly not something we’re interested in. We’ve been plagued with countless calls from this number. Earlier today, we decided to take matters into our own hands. We called them back and referenced their own case number, but we flatly refused to disclose our address as it should have nothing to do with them. They brought up a street name that was miles away from us, so we simply reiterated that this was definitely not for us. To our surprise, we even received an apology, and we were told our number would be removed from their system. They'd best follow through on that!

Our 14-year-old lad kept getting missed calls from this number, and the only time she had her phone on was Christmas Day.

Absolutely, Scotcall seems to be a frequent topic of conversation over on the Consumer Action Group forums. They've got a wealth of information on how one might deal with these chaps, along with insights into some of the dubious tactics they might employ. If you dive into the debt collection section of that site, you’ll find a treasure trove of details and advice related to them.

I’ve received a number of calls from a Scottish number recently. We just answered one of the calls and the caller was searching for a woman who doesn’t live here. They seemed completely oblivious to the fact that they were bothering us. When we told them that our details were none of their concern and asked them to remove us from their database, they didn’t seem to care one bit. Without even knowing who we are, they were utterly unhelpful. We’re thinking of blocking their number now.

Had a rather irritating chap ring us up in pursuit of someone. He insisted that we were merely taking their word for it that the person wasn't around. When we pressed for details about who he was, he refused to share. After a bit of digging on our part, we decided to lodge a complaint with "Scot Call", who seem to operate like a bunch of ruffians, if you ask me!

We recently received a voice message urging us to give them a call. Naturally, we thought it wise to first check online to uncover their identity. Honestly, we’ve got no idea what they want from us, and we’re certainly not inclined to answer their call. They can take a long walk off a short pier for all we care!

I recently received a rather perplexing phone call where the caller immediately demanded information from me. To be honest, they came across as quite rude and had an air of mystery about them - I genuinely couldn’t get a straight answer out of them. Apparently, they were harping on about a catalogue debt, but the twist? We don’t even possess a catalogue! They were utterly useless at providing any specifics regarding which catalogue they were referring to. Does anyone have any idea who these plonkers might be?

Received a rather odd call from Scotcall, complete with a robotic voice delivering the message. Until they manage to switch to a proper human representative, we’re not inclined to answer these absurd calls. BT offers a “choose to refuse” service that allows us to block certain numbers for an eight-week period at a time. It's a handy option one could consider!

I’ve just received a call, and honestly, the sound was dreadful. I kept asking them to speak up, but they just kept droning on like some previous commenter, Mr Angry. It’s like they’re not even bothering to use a proper human voice. Until they sort that out, I’m not interested in engaging with them!

After receiving numerous calls from that particular number, I decided to replace my SIM card. The new number has only been shared with Santander, NS&I, and HMRC. However, to my dismay, I am once again experiencing unwanted call disturbances.

We received a call not long ago, but as soon as we picked up, the line went dead. Curious, we dialled 1471 to see who it was, and lo and behold, it was the same number that people have been mentioning here. What I’m really puzzled about is why these callers hang up so abruptly? It’s rather frustrating when you have to call them back just to get a word in!

Yes, this number is quite annoying. Sometimes, they even change numbers and continue to call. I wish their number could be permanently deactivated. It's frustrating!

We recently received a phone call, but when we picked up, the person on the other end simply hung up. After calling 1471, we discovered the number was the same one that seems to be causing a bit of chatter on this site. What’s puzzling us is why on earth these callers don’t bother to say anything before they disconnect. It’s quite frustrating, as it leaves us in a position where we’re forced to call them back. What’s the point of that, really?

We recently received a voicemail urging us to give them a call. We assumed that the search engine would be our first step in identifying who these individuals are. Honestly, we’re totally in the dark about their intentions, and we’ve chosen not to engage with their calls. They can just take a hike as far as we’re concerned.

I've received quite a few calls from this number, so I decided to return the call. The individuals on the other end claimed they were representing BT and requested my address, but I refused to provide it. They even mentioned a home number that was completely incorrect. It felt rather shady and intrusive, to be honest. Who exactly are these people?

I've just answered the call, and honestly, it was quite the experience! I struggled to catch what they were saying, so I asked them to speak up. However, they just went on and on, similar to what that Mr Angry mentioned earlier. Unless they have a real person on the line next time, I won't be engaging with them any further!

I'm absolutely fed up with this call centre. It's a never-ending cycle of automated calls. They ring at all hours of the day, even on weekends. They persistently ask for someone I don't know, and no matter what I try, they simply won't stop calling me. (Furious. Arrrrrrrgh!)

I receive calls and text messages on my mobile phone from a company called Scotcall. They constantly bother me at all hours of the day and expect me to press either 1 or 0 to be connected to a call center that charges you even if you're not the intended recipient. It's incredibly irritating.

You can receive calls from this number anytime between 08:00 and 20:00, and they will ask for someone by their name. Then, they instruct you to press one if it is indeed you or two if it is not. No matter what option you choose, the calls persist as they are automated.

Received a couple of calls from this number, but unfortunately, we were unable to pick up either time. Left behind a voicemail that was automated. Honestly, I've no idea what they're after or who they represent. If they can't be bothered to send a real person to leave a message, then we've got no inclination to return the call. I suppose if it’s really urgent, they'll try reaching us again, won’t they?
