I received a rather puzzling text from Barclaycard, the number being 60146, requesting confirmation with a simple 'y' or 'n' regarding three transactions that didn’t seem familiar to me. I responded with 'n', as one of the amounts was certainly not on my radar. Almost instantly, I got a call from 0800 151 2104 claiming to be the fraud team. They asked for my name and requested I stay on the line. At that point, a red flag went up, and I decided to hang up. Quite the peculiar experience, to say the least!

I got a rather odd call on my mobile and landline from the number 08001512104 on the 9th of March, 2016. The message was a bit peculiar, as it simply mentioned my name and instructed me to press any digit on my keypad. Very dodgy indeed, considering it claimed to be from the Barclaycard fraud department.
To double-check, I rang the genuine fraud number for Barclaycard, which is 0800 318665. They confirmed they hadn’t made any calls from that number and didn’t recognise it at all. So, I’d advise exercising caution; don’t engage with this scammer’s number. If you suspect anything fishy, it’s best to contact Barclaycard directly at 0800 318665 and keep an eye on your account.
