I got a call from a number claiming to be from Step Change yesterday, but I'm pretty sure it's been cloned. The caller told me I was owed a "tax rebate from the UK government" - sounded strange as it wasn’t even HMRC. Then they asked for my bank details to "process the claim". Yeah, no thanks...

They keep bombarding me with bogus emails about some home loan debts I never had, I don’t own a house, never taken out a mortgage or anything like that. They go by Search Limited and seem to be run by dodgy local councils or something.

Initial Advice Limited have been hasslin me ever since I took out a loan with Commsave back in Nov 2011. Commsave seems linked to Wimbledon Guild of Social Work and Need More Time Limited, as they share the same board members. The calls always kick off with this weird electronic 'chup' sound, and the people on the line sound Asian. Best to just block these calls straight away.

Based on what I've seen from others regarding a call from this number, it’s likely a dodgy debt scam. It’s really quite tiresome, to be honest. I'd recommend steering clear and not picking up if you’re not waiting for a call from this one.

Got a call on me mobile and it was a right pain, especially when I was waiting for an important ring. After reading what folks mentioned here, sounds like a scam and just a massive waste of time. They rang me but didn’t leave a voicemail, since it was an 0800 I assumed it was official, so I phoned back. They said they were some kind of debt help charity or something but it all felt fishy and sketchy, not convinced at all.

The person on the phone claimed we’d talked before about a debt of £7,000 and said I told him to ring me again. I told him I don’t owe anything and haven’t talked to him before. Then I told him to remove me from his list and hung up.

I went over to my unoccupied house which was securely locked, only to find a brand new pay as you go meter installed along with a letter beside it. I reckon this counts as trespassing and messing about with my original meter?! I’m pretty sure British Gas must have sent someone round without my permission.

Somebody phoned me saying they were from a charity called Step Change about a debt I supposedly owe, which I have no idea about. I asked them where they got that info from, but they just stayed silent. When I asked again who gave them those details, they ended the call. Honestly, best to just ignore any calls from them.

I told him it wasnt me and asked how they even got my number since I’m on the TPS. I also mentioned Citizens Advice wouldnt normally ring people, as they wait for folks to reach out themselves.
