3 yearsI just got a call from this number where the bloke said he was calling from my bank. He had a proper English accent and mentioned some card purchases at a bookshop and said someone was trying to get into my online banking. Funny thing is, I’d already attempted to buy something from a bookshop recently but it didn't go through, and after reading a few reviews about it being a phishing scam, I’d already cancelled my card. Since I actually work as a fraud investigator for the bank from home, I told him I’d log in myself to check. I also asked for his full name, but there was no record of him at the bank, and no suspicious login attempts or activity on my account. No doubt this was a scam to try and get my OTP so they could raid my account. Be careful out there!3 yearsBeware of a scam where people rang me pretending to be from Virgin Money. They already had my card info, probably from some phishing trick. They said there’d been dodgy activity on my account that day, but the truth was they were running fake transactions right then. They asked me to input OTPs, saying it was to stop the charges, but really they wanted me to approve them. Proper dodgy!BEWAREVirgin Money3 yearsWhat a complete scam! I received a call from someone purporting to be from Virgin Money. It turns out these crooks somehow got hold of my card information through a phishing scheme. They were going on about some dubious activity on my account that day, but it seems they were actually in the midst of conducting their own dodgy transactions. They urged me to enter one-time passwords, pretending they were needed to halt the transactions, when in reality, they were just trying to get me to authorise their thievery. Unbelievable!Virgin Money3 yearsThis was definitely a scam call. They told me there was some dodgy stuff going on with my Royal Bank of Scotland account - problem is, I don’t even have an account with them! Ended the call immediately.Royal Bank of Scotland3 yearsReceived a call from someone claiming to represent Virgin Mobile Banking.Virgin Mobile Banking3 yearsThese lot had my card info and kept nagging me to shift cash from my bank account to one of my other accounts, then funnel it into a fresh account they supposedly opened with my name. They spoke with a proper English accent and spent roughly 45 mins persuading me. They already knew my postcode, phone number, and even some past transactions - the ones they did themselves.4 yearsGot a call claiming there was some suspicious activity on my Virgin credit card. Problem is, I don’t even own a Virgin credit card! Definitely a scam trying to trick me.Virgin Credit Card4 yearsSCAM ALERT!! Seemed totally legit at the start but ended up being dodgy.4 yearsLike someone mentioned earlier, it's definitely a fake bank scam.4 yearsYep, you've got it right - they’re definitely scammers.4 yearsSomeone called me asking for my banking info, sounded totally dodgy. Definitely a scammer trying to steal money!4 yearsGot a call claiming to be from my bank, saying there’d been three big dodgy transactions and asked if I’d made them. They really dug in, asking for the last 4 digits of my card, my name, where I lived, email and my phone number. Then they wanted my date of birth to “check” my account. I just hung up and called my bank straight away - turns out it was a scam. Best just ignore such calls.Submit Your Own Report (0800 121 7366)
