Received a voicemail requesting that I give them a ring back. Now that I’ve figured out who it is, there's absolutely no chance I’ll be calling them back-never even heard of this person, clearly a sales call.

On the 1st of June 2022, just before ten o'clock in the morning, I received a peculiar recorded message on my landline. Unlike the typical robotic tone of automated calls, this one featured a distinctly human voice. The caller, identifying herself as Debbie and representing a company called Selfsure Mobility, oddly addressed me by my surname but mistakenly labeled me as Mr rather than Miss. Intrigued, I took a look online and discovered there exists a genuine company called SelfSure, promoting mobility vehicles and related services, which does lend an impression of legitimacy. However, upon closer inspection, I found that the freephone number provided in the scam call does not correspond to the one listed on their proper website-quite the red flag, wouldn’t you agree? Fast forward to today, the 22nd of June, at around 9:29 am, and a similar recorded message came through once more. It’s the same unsettling tone and content. As someone who is considered vulnerable-I’ve been the target of a persistent smear campaign and also happen to struggle with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, affecting my mobility to some extent-I can assure you I’m not in the market for mobility products. The fact that these disparagers have maliciously spread rumours about my character and questioned my sexual orientation could explain the misaddressing. I prefer not to reveal my surname, but I do go by Susan Linda. It’s become painfully evident that my phone number has fallen into the hands of these so-called Self Sure Mobility scammers, who appear to be intent on further tarnishing my reputation and mocking my situation. Their motive seems twofold: they want to intimidate me and also hope to provoke a report to professionals tasked with safeguarding-such as my GP-so that their false narratives continue, enabling them to claim that my concerns are merely a symptom of “persecutory thoughts.” It’s disheartening to think that such tactics are being employed against someone already grappling with so much.

I just ignored the call.
