Today I got a weird message warning me that my Internet Banking phone numbers were changed on 8th December 2023. It told me to call 08000966103 or +44 1733 462206 if I hadn’t done it. Thing is, I don’t even have a TSB account, so I didn’t ring them. This is definitely a scam! The first time these scammers messaged me was back in October 2019. The one today is actually the fourth time I’ve had a text from them. I’ve blocked the number and marked it as spam now.

Got a text saying my internet banking phone numbers had been updated. When I rang the number back, the first thing the person asked for was my sort code and account number, without even asking my name. They claimed to be from the fraud team, but when I checked TSB’s official site, the number didn’t match. So I told the guy I didn’t have my bank info with me and that I’d call again later.

Got a call recently, even though my number is only used for ATM stuff. The person on the line knew exactly where I'd withdrawn cash from my account, which really shook my trust in TSB. Thinking of shifting my funds to a different bank first thing tomorrow. Also received a text saying my internet banking number was changed on 17th January 2023 at 14:29. It said if I hadn’t made this change, I should ring 08000966103 or +441733462206 if overseas. The call ID actually showed as TSB, which seemed a bit suspicious to me. I usually rename my TSB contacts on my phone to something trickier, like “My Local Croydon TSB” along with the genuine number. Definitely recommend others do the same to spot any dodgy calls quicker.

I got a message that looked like it came from the same number TSB usually texts me from. It claimed my internet banking phone details had been updated at 11.07 this morning and told me to ring 0800 0966103 if I wasn’t responsible. I hadn’t made any changes, so I didn’t call that number. Instead, I found the TSB fraud team's contact on their official site and gave them a ring. They confirmed that no changes had been made to my account. Definitely a scam trying to catch people out.

If you get any suspicious texts, just send them to 7726 and the networks will look into it and block them. Same goes for dodgy mobile calls, you can report those by texting ‘scam caller’ to 7726, and they’ll deal with it.

Definitely don’t ring the numbers they send, like those starting with 08000.
