I received a call from this number after a warning popped up on my screen, but in the end, I was left with no choice but to reboot my system with an image backup to regain access. Now, I can't help but feel ever so wary each time I sit down at my computer. Just yesterday, I took my other laptop in for repairs after it was compromised and ransomware was installed. I suppose I should've been more cautious when I picked up that dodgy call claiming to be from Microsoft. I truly wish the people behind these scams would get their just deserts. I gave the caller a piece of my mind, but I suspect my words will make no difference at all. I might just ring them daily, purely to get under their skin until they decide to cut me off!

I encountered a rather alarming pop-up that claimed my computer had been frozen by either Microsoft or Google due to suspicious activity. It urged me to refrain from switching off or restarting my machine and instructed me to ring a specific number instead. My screen was completely locked, leaving me unable to dismiss the alert or reboot the system.

Solution: Simply press CTRL, ALT, and DELETE simultaneously, which will bring up the Windows Task Manager. Navigate to the 'Processes' tab, locate either the Google or Mozilla application, select it, and opt for 'End Task.' This will force the browser to shut down and restore normal functionality.

Today, I had quite the dreadful experience with a right dodgy nuisance who managed to seize control of my computer’s cursor and then left behind that number. It appears they’re trying to hold my laptop for ransom! I ended up needing to pay a visit to my local tech whizz, which, thankfully, got everything sorted in the end. You’d think that if these scoundrels are brazen enough to leave a landline number, they could be traced, right? If not, then how on earth is that even possible?

I picked up the call but the person never said who they were. They kept pushing me to share personal info and it felt really fishy.

Really dodgy scam alert - don’t ever call back if you got this number from some random pop-up on your screen. Your PC’s probably infected with something nasty. You should run a scan with something like Malwarebytes or another reliable antivirus. Avoid clicking any links or downloading attachments from suspicious emails. When unsure, ask a mate who’s savvy or check online forums for advice.

This appears to be a matter worthy of reporting to BT.

I got a call, but the person who picked up didn't say who they were, so I ended up hanging up.

it sounds a bit dodgy, like Virgin Media might not keep your bank details safe or something strange going on.
