I received yet another call claiming to be from the Telephone Preference Service, insisting that I needed to confirm my debit card details to prevent further nuisance calls. It's astonishingly cheeky - it's clearly a scam! I promptly ended the call.

I got in touch with my father regarding the call-blocking service, but it seems the card got deactivated just before any funds were deducted.

I’ve just had my poor old Nan conned out of £149.99 with some rubbish about call preference. Utter nonsense, really!

I received a call from a woman asking me to confirm some information in order to sign me up for the telephone preference service, aiming to block those pesky overseas calls. Curiously, when I requested the number she was calling from, she provided me with this one. I then inquired about her location, and to my surprise, she abruptly hung up! It seems this number has been flagged as part of a scam.

I’ve had a similar experience to others. An Indian chap claimed he was ringing from Ilford, Essex. However, upon further inquiry, he confessed to being in Calcutta, India. He insisted he was representing BT, yet seemed more concerned about obtaining my card information, despite the fact that my bill is settled through Direct Debit. It all struck me as rather odd, to say the least.

I received a call from this number, and it was an individual with an Indian accent purporting to be from 'Telephone Business Service'. Strangely, he had my name and address on hand, and he was pressing me to confirm the expiry date of my Visa debit card, which I flatly declined to do. I mentioned I needed to verify his affiliation with BT and requested he provide me with this number. Afterward, I took a gander at my BT call settings and activated the BT Protect feature to block any unknown callers. It strikes me that there might be some sort of data breach involving BT in India.

They persistently rang me, attempting to scam £89 for a so-called call-blocking device to halt their incessant calls. I ended up hanging up on them three times, only for my phone to ring once more shortly after. These are nothing but utter fraudsters who ought to be prosecuted!

Hello there,
I've just received yet another call from a rather relentless gentleman claiming to be John. He was rather insistent that I fire up my computer so he could walk me through some supposedly crucial steps to secure it. When I asked for a contact number to ring him back, he promptly provided this one.
His manner was incredibly aggressive and quite off-putting. It's quite concerning!
Does anyone have any advice on how I can block him and put an end to these calls?
Cheers, Jane

I encountered a bloke named James Andrew who had a strong Asian accent and was rather tenacious in his approach. I can certainly imagine there are individuals out there who might fall for his tactics. It felt rather intrusive and even bordering on aggressive, which frankly gives the impression of something quite nefarious. It's quite shameful, really.

I just got a rather odd phone call from someone named Johnstone. Quite amusingly, he seems to be connected to my local phone exchange. The chap was incredibly persistent, practically badgering me to switch on my computer. As I informed him, it's been gathering dust for the past half a year, yet he wouldn't drop it. I requested a number to return his call and he provided me with one, but still insisted that I must have my computer powered up - and he’s due to ring me again in an hour. I highly doubt that’s happening, mate!

I received a rather alarming phone call claiming that if I didn’t engage with them, my computer would seize up and become unusable in just a few days. Believing their claims, I consented to let them 'repair' my device, but made it clear that I wouldn’t be able to settle any fees until the month's end. Now that the month has rolled around, I decided to investigate the phone number and discovered it was a total scam. I have opted not to make any payment. Do you think they can coerce me into paying? I became suspicious when they refused to provide an invoice beforehand, only offering a receipt post-payment. Should I be feeling anxious about this situation?

I received a call from a chap identifying himself as Alex Roberts, and I must say, he was quite persuasive. During our conversation, he managed to explain everything about the issues on my computer in great detail. Regrettably, I ended up granting him remote access to my device, but thankfully I had the presence of mind to disconnect my internet once he started asking for payment to fix the problem. He provided the number 0800 088 5562 and mentioned an ID of 10015 along with a security code of 1987.

The numbers 0800 088 5526 and 0800 088 5562 are clearly dodgy operations attempting to infiltrate your computer system. A chap claiming to be Alex Roberts, complete with an employee ID of 10015, rang me up. I deliberately wasted his time feigning interest while I awaited my wife, all the while requesting his credentials, which he graciously provided. Naturally, I had no intention of booting up my computer, as I could sense his nefarious intentions even with a dose of the sniffles. He was rather desperate for me to ring back, so I assured him I would, and I hope he's still hanging on the line! Truly a sad individual, without a doubt. DO NOTLET ANYONE GAIN ACCESS TO YOUR COMPUTER!

A chap by the name of John Wilson, who had quite a distinct accent, rang up asking for the woman of the household. He proceeded to inquire about the whereabouts of every family member and claimed to be affiliated with the telephone preference scheme, promising to put an end to all those pesky nuisance calls if I had a chat with him. Quite astonishing really, especially considering he's called about six times prior! In an attempt to brush him off, I mentioned that my dad would contact him if he provided his name and phone number. After a bit of hesitation, he finally complied. The whole encounter felt rather intrusive and frankly left me feeling a bit uneasy.

I had a rather alarming phone call today, 2nd November 2016, from this number claiming to be the verification centre for unsolicited calls! Quite amusing, isn't it? They proceeded to rattle off my card details, along with a fair bit of personal information that was spot on, which is rather concerning to say the least. Please be cautious, everyone!

I've been contacted multiple times by Ajsoftnapps, and I must admit, I fell for their pitch and ended up buying their antivirus software. Since then, they've called me twice-once for about an hour and then for an infuriating two-and-a-half hours-billing me on why it wasn't functioning as expected. They did mention a refund, but here’s the kicker: they refused to send it back to my credit card. Instead, they were adamant about using Western Union for the payment, and it was pure luck that I noticed a flicker on my screen indicating they were trying to extract another £393 from me! Thankfully, my credit card provider blocked the transaction, but now I'm left on edge, worrying about potential identity theft and other nastiness. Has anyone else experienced similar shenanigans? I'm curious about the extent of their fraudulent activities. What a right pickle this situation has become!

I received a call from a chap identified as Paul Austin, who was attempting to peddle some dubious software. He provided me with a phone number and mentioned that he was representing a company named A J Softnapps. It appears to be a fraudulent outfit, as they allegedly resort to blackmail tactics once they gain access to your computer. A friend of mine fell victim to a similar con, reportedly losing around £400 to what could very well be the same nefarious operation just a few months ago. I was absolutely flabbergasted that he allowed himself to be duped!
