I encountered a rather dubious message on my screen that claimed to be from Microsoft, urging me to ring a specific number. The message ominously warned that failure to do so might result in potential harm to my computer, along with threats of notifying the cyber police. Quite alarming, to say the least!

So, a couple of days ago, I was just using my PC when this warning suddenly appeared, claiming my computer was compromised and that my personal info, including banking details, was being sent to some so-called Microsoft team. They said if I didn't call them right away, they'd shut down my computer instantly. It took me a bit of effort to close everything and get rid of that pop-up. Proper dodgy stuff!

total scam alert. i kept trying to shut the popup but as soon as one closed, another immediately appeared. nothing i did would close them properly. finally, i hit ctrl + alt + del all together and that brought me to a different screen. from there, i opened task manager, selected the troublesome windows and hit end task. that seemed to stop them. avoid clicking on these things!

I ended up doing the same thing others suggested, hitting ctrl-alt-delete. Also, I sent a screenshot of it over to my company's IT support via email.

I've been getting this annoying pop-up on my Xbox, and I haven't even given it a bell yet. Any idea how to get rid of it on Edge?

I called the number using my pay as you go after seeing a weird pop-up. The guy who picked up said he wasn’t from Microsoft directly but some global team of their engineers. When I asked him to prove it, he totally couldn’t, so I just ended the call.

Had a message pop up on my computer saying it was Microsoft warning me about some dodgy activity and telling me to call their number right away, like within five minutes, to sort it out. Didn’t feel right, so I checked the Microsoft website on my tablet and saw that this was a known scam. They had some advice on how to fix it, which I followed, and thankfully no issues after that.

It seems that Microsoft is struggling to establish any connection with this matter, as it turns out to be a call centre based in India.

I've just had a notification pop up on my laptop claiming that I've got a virus, urging me to ring a number because they’re supposedly certified engineers from Microsoft. The website at the top was something about "northeast Amazon germ" - quite odd, if you ask me! Honestly, all I really want is to hop onto Origin and play The Sims without all this hassle!
