Then, lo and behold, just two days later, I received a rather dubious phone call from a number that introduced itself as a 'legal bureau' claiming to help mediate between my insurance and the other party. The chap on the other end, who identified himself as James, had all sorts of details - my name, car information, and the insurance provider I’m with. He mentioned something about a ‘third party witness report’. However, truth be told, this was completely fabricated. There were no witnesses to the incident at all! Plus, the one other driver involved didn't even stick around; it was a clear case of a 'hit and run'. This definitely feels like an ‘ambulance chasing’ racket if I've ever seen one. Once I pointed out the absence of any third parties to him, he promptly hung up. It’s quite unsettling how he managed to obtain my personal information.
