9 yearsI experienced a rather unsettling phone call from a gentleman named Kevin Mc Canister, who spoke with an Indian accent. He was attempting to peddle some software protection service with a starting price of £149.99 for a single year. Though I declined the offer, I did let him control my computer for a short while, and now I’m a tad anxious about the implications of that. I’m using an iMac, so I reckon I have some level of safeguard in place. My iPad and iMac appear to be functioning fine at the moment. If anyone could provide some reassurance or advice, I would greatly appreciate it. Cheers, Valerie.Kevin Mc CanisterValerie9 yearsI recently received a rather alarming notification on my iPad, claiming that it’s been compromised by something referred to as Zeus. Iris. The message warned me against switching off my device, stating that doing so would result in the loss of all data stored on the hard drive. It instructed me to contact a specific number, providing them with a code: Code B2957E. Now, I'm at a bit of a loss-should I really shut down my iPad, or is this just a nefarious scam? I’m uncertain about how to proceed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, K. M.K. M9 yearsI called this number after spotting it on Google as the contact for Norton Anti-Virus. When I brought up an issue regarding an overpayment on my subscription, I was told that in order to get my money back into my bank account, I first needed to buy an iTunes card from Tesco and then call this number with the card details. Only then would Norton reimburse the whole amount? I quickly realised that this wasn’t an official Norton customer service number, which set off alarm bells for me. I managed to track down an authentic number for Norton instead.GoogleNortoniTunesTescoSubmit Your Own Report (0800 086 9146)
