I actually got a call from this number and some letters too, so I decided to ring Santander's official customer service line to check if it was for real. Turns out it is! The number connects straight to a team that’s gathering additional ID info for certain accounts, which they have to do because of UK laws. So yeah, it's a genuine Santander contact.

Got a couple of letters claiming to be from Santander asking for ID, payslips and other info. Don’t be fooled, it’s a total scam! Always ring the number on the back of your actual Santander card instead of the one they give you. It might seem legit, but it definitely isn’t! Stay safe folks!

BEWARE OF FAKE SANTANDER LETTERS
I got a letter that looked really official, asking me to send in payslips, ID, and update my info. I checked directly with Santander and they confirmed it’s definitely a scam.
My husband got the same one too - both had what looked like proper customer numbers and a website link to upload stuff. Just don't trust these letters, they aren't from Santander at all.

Got a message asking me to ring Santander on 0800-085-1379, saying they’re doing some updates on customer info following new government rules. I called their fraud team just to be safe, and they confirmed the person I talked to was legit. Apparently, since the government tweaked the data laws back in 2020, Santander is reaching out to long-time customers to get their info sorted. I did tell them over the phone isn't really the best way to handle personal details and suggested they find a different method.

Got a letter from someone claiming to be "Santander Customer Operations" asking me to call that number. Thought it might be a scam so I tried reaching Santander through their official channels, but never got a response back, so I ended up sending them a letter instead.

So, what’s the story? I just got it today myself.

Had a voicemail on my answer machine, said it was from Santander asking me to ring 0800 085 1379. I decided to check the number out. Cheers for this handy site! Besides that, I’ve been getting odd calls from different Scottish numbers a few times, and all they say is something like “I’ll call you again soon” like they’re some mate who’s always trying to keep in touch.

I've been getting loads of calls from Santander asking for my bank info. Now I just got a text saying my account will be frozen if I don’t ring them back in the next two weeks. The number they keep using is 08000851379. Sounds dodgy to me.

This morning I got a voicemail supposedly from Santander bank, saying there'd been some dodgy activity on my account. They claimed I'd supposedly sent £300 to Apple and wanted me to verify if it was me who made the payment. Then they asked for my bank info to "verify" my identity. Problem is, I don't actually have a Santander account at all. Total scam, no doubt about it!
