Got a third text from someone calling themselves ‘Rundles’ claiming my account is still active and unpaid. They tell me to get in touch to "halt" fees and enforcement, which sounds a bit dodgy if you ask me. They even dropped a WhatsApp number, 07908677666, along with a link. My rule of thumb is this: if I haven’t got an official letter sent through the post, I just treat it as a scam, no matter what.

This isn't a scam, it's actually a debt collector - Rundles. From what I've seen, they're after tenants from multiple occupancy homes who haven't paid their Council Tax or have been fiddling with Council benefits. Sure, their calls can be pushy or rude, which isn't right and probably against the rules, but for folks jumping straight to calling it a SCAM, did you get the call because you owe money you’re dodging or just can't sort out? Or maybe someone’s been using your address without you realising?

This number has sent me a couple of texts and also rang me up twice in less than a day. I don’t owe anyone money, so it’s obviously a scam. I’ve blocked the number now, fingers crossed they don’t bother me again. I’m stuck at home due to disability and live on my own, so the second message threatening to come round was really scary and stressful. These scammers are just awful people - no idea how they can live with themselves!

The debt collectors from Rundels were proper rude and kept making up payment plans even tho I refused to give pay details. The debt was actually cancelled by the company I owed, cos I'd been making instalment payments right to them. Received a call where they asked for someone I didn’t know, then wanted my name. I wouldn’t say it because they wouldn’t tell me who they were, and even if they did, I couldn’t check. Then they threatened to keep ringing me since I didn’t give my name to get off their list.

A few things to consider. If your phone number is quite new, it might have belonged to someone else before, since numbers get recycled after being inactive for a while. That person could have left loads of unpaid bills. Also, it's possible someone’s been using your details to rack up charges - best to double check. Or, maybe it’s actually you who owes the cash. If that’s the case, you should sort it out and make the payment.
