I’ve now had three calls from this number in just over a week. Every time they ring, it’s a live call but they just drop the line once my voicemail kicks in. I’m on the telephone preference service, so I’m not keen on these sales calls at all. My missus picked up once before but the person on the phone refused to chat to her and said they needed to speak with me personally. Quite frustrating!

They keep ringing me non stop even tho I left British Gas recently, after being with them for homecare since 1997. They used to charge me £700 every year just for servicing the boiler and electrics, total daylight robbery. Had some flood damage but they wouldn’t assist to verify it for the insurance. Didn’t bother to make a claim and chose to cancel my contract with them. Not going back, so why wont they leave me alone with all these annoying calls?

This number turned out to be from British Gas. The person on the line wanted to talk to my husband, but I explained he was unwell and asked if I could take the call instead. The caller insisted on speaking to my husband directly. I told them he was quite sick and preferred not to be disturbed. Eventually, they said they’d call back later. Like someone else mentioned about British Gas, why don’t they just include these questions with our bills? Honestly, really annoyed here.

Since this number is from British Gas and we already have an account with them, there’s absolutely no need for them to be ringing up with sales pitches. If they’ve got better deals or cheaper rates, they should just include that info with our regular bill. It’s really unnecessary to pester existing customers with telesales calls. As per our usual approach of not dealing with businesses who telemarket us out of the blue, we’ll be changing our supplier soon (and probably saving a fair bit in the process). We’ve decided we won’t be dealing with British Gas again. I’d encourage everyone else to consider doing the same. If enough people push back, perhaps these unwanted sales calls will disappear. If these companies stand to lose more than they gain, they might just stop these annoying calls altogether.

My wife, who's a pensioner, got a call today around 3.37pm on 23/01/2014. She was shocked to hear a woman with a Scottish accent shouting some awful swear words at her. The woman yelled something like "DON'T YOU EVER PUT YOUR F***ING HEAD ON MY F***ING SHOULDER AGAIN" right in the phone, so loud I could hear it too! After that, there was about two and a half minutes of what sounded like typical call centre noise. I checked and the caller ID showed 08000-727732. It's clear to me that British Gas call centre agents have lost it, ringing us - loyal customers for years - and hurling abuse like that. Seriously, will OFCOM do anything about this, or are they just a useless watchdog? I’m guessing nothing will be done despite all the complaints. Honestly, the best answer is to just switch to a different energy company and stop supporting these jokers!

It’s the usual nonsense. Phone rings, I pick up, then nothing but silence before they just cut off. If these calls are meant to sell stuff that’s not urgent, why bother not even saying a word? This number rang me a couple of times, on the 5th and 6th of November 2013, but luckily I missed the calls on my mobile. What puzzles me is where they managed to get my number from. I'm pretty cautious about sharing it - I've only given it to my bank, maybe Yahoo to get back into my email, and a handful of reputable charities. It's quite upsetting to think that one of those places might have let my details slip.

On the last call, I could hear a voice getting annoyed and they even called me by my surname, which was surprising because it’s spelt quite differently from others with the same name. Oh no, it's British Gas again! Thought I had managed to stop their calls for good, but nope, here they come again. I'm almost 88 and totally disabled, so by the time I get to my text/relay phone, they've already hung up, leaving just their number on the caller ID. My wife, who’s 92, is currently in hospital about 20 miles away, and every phone ring fills me with dread. Lucky we can look up their number and find sites like "who calls me" to share our experiences. I’ve also signed the WHICH? petition to stop these nuisance calls. Do you reckon the government will take any notice? I doubt it - probably haven’t a clue how to handle these pests. But mark my words, when folks get pushed to deal with British Gas and its parent, Centrica, this will come up for sure!
