It appears that this number is associated with British Gas. The chap on the other end was keen to chat with my husband. I mentioned that my husband was unwell and requested if he could converse with me instead, but he insisted on speaking to my husband directly. After I reiterated how poorly my husband was and expressed my wish not to have him disturbed at that moment, the caller finally agreed to ring back another time. If they wish to provide us with information on more competitive services or deals, they ought to send that along with our quarterly billing statements instead. There's simply no justification for them to reach out to their current customers with cold calls. Sticking to our usual policy of disengaging from any firm that solicits us through such means, we’ve decided to switch to a different supplier-likely saving a decent sum in the process.
