Recently, we received a call from this number on our mobile and can confirm it's legitimate. It turns out to be the security team for Abbey credit cards, reaching out to verify some transactions made on our account.

I've just received a rather dodgy text on my phone. It says something along the lines of, "Kindly reach out to the Abbey Credit Card Fraud Department regarding a transaction on your account. Call me at 08000683559, or if you're abroad, use +441244672111." The message came from something titled MOneyAlert. The thing is, I don’t hold any account or credit card with that bank, nor do I have a phone number linked to them. To make matters more bizarre, just before this went off, I got a call from a private number-a lady was looking for a chap whose name is definitely not mine. I'm completely perplexed!

We've been getting calls from this number on both our mobile and our landline - and we’ve only had the landline for a fortnight! It typically rings us about two or three times a week. When we don’t pick up, we’re left with these bizarre voicemail messages that are utterly silent; no sounds at all, not even a hint of breathing. When we do attempt to respond, we’re met with the same eerie silence. I’ve tried calling back, but all I ever get is the tone of a "user busy". Has anyone else experienced something similar? Any thoughts on what might be going on?
