This woman kept telling me her name was Malotra something, sounded like she was Indian. She said she was ringing from Barclays but when I asked why she was calling, she couldn't really explain. I admitted I was behind on payments, but when I gave her my name, all she did was keep saying the call was recorded for security. Then out of nowhere she wanted my full address, including which village I lived in. I told her in the UK we use postcodes, so what village did she mean? Then I just ended the call. Watch out people, this seems dodgy!

Somebody called claiming to be from Barclays and wanted to check security details before telling me the reason for the call. I kept asking which department they were from, but the person just kept insisting on getting security info first. I told her I’m not giving any info without knowing what the call’s about, but she wouldn't change her tune. So, I just ended the call.

I didnt get a call from this number but got a pop up on my laptop saying I had to call "Windows Defender Security Center" asap. It looked dodgy coz it claimed my laptop was shut down but I still had 2 windows open. I looked up Microsoft contact numbers and this one wasnt listed anywhere. I also found a guide about how to deal with the Windows Defender scam and saw a few posts saying this number is being sold on Craigslist, eBay and other sites. Watch out for this one.

If you ring your bank to double check if a call is legit (like people mentoined below), the call centre staff can usually tell if the bank has actually been trying to get in touch and will either put you through to the right team or sort it out for you. But, they might not know every single number that the bank uses. Even if the call centre says it sounds like a scam, it doesn’t always mean the number itself is a dodgy one. Fake calls that use real business numbers are a big problem for companies and their clients.

Never just ignore random calls from your bank. Always ring your bank back using the phone number on your bank card. Banks often use lots of different numbers when they contact you, so you can’t be certain if the call is legit and important or if it’s some scammer trying to rob your account. Some scammers even post fake danger alerts here about real bank numbers, hoping folks will block them or report to '7726' - that sets off an alert on your phone network marking all calls from that number as suspect across the board.

08000680126 - I’d only just signed up with Shein when I got this call about ten minutes later. The person on the line had an accent that wasn’t British and claimed they were from Barclays. They said I needed to share my full address so they could explain why they were ringing. During this, I heard some sort of background noise like they were possibly recording me. I hung up instead of giving any info.

Some guy said he was calling from Barclays mortgages. When I asked why he was ringing, he said it was about my mortgage being behind on payments… I told him I knew for sure I wasn’t late on anything so I wasn’t interested in speaking to him. Then I just ended the call.

We’ve been receiving calls from this number consistently, only it has a ‘1’ added at the start. The callers, with Indian accents, are always inquiring about someone who isn’t employed with us and they're insisting they're representing Barclays. this morning i got a call from someone with an asian accent asking for my partner. strange thing is, they started asking me for info to get into his account, which sounded dodgy. when i said no, they told me to ring an 0333 number, but i told them the number on my card was an 0345 one and asked if that was right. they told me not to use that number and then ended the call. i then called barclays using the number on my card and they said they knew nothing about it and i should just ignore those calls. seems like a scam to me.
