Got a call earlier from this number claiming to be Shield Home Protect Ltd, saying they could reduce my insurance premiums. They wanted to check my bank info but I didn’t give them any details. I’ve never even signed up with Shield Home Protect, but I had a laugh winding them up. The caller ID looks similar to the real company, so be careful.

I received a call from a woman claiming to be from "SS customer service", returning my call. She suggested that I might be overpaying for my white goods warranty. I mentioned that I didn't have such a warranty, and she responded by informing me that it had recently expired and offered to provide me with a great deal. It was quite clear to me that this was a scam. When I started asking her some questions, she promptly hung up on me. What a complete waste of time!

Got a call from a woman with an American accent trying to sell cheaper insurance for appliances. She couldn’t tell me which company she was with or exactly what I was supposed to be insured for. She just rattled off loads of different appliances and names of various insurers. I told her she had all the wrong details and asked her not to call again, but I’ll block the number just to be safe.

Received a random call from a woman speaking with a strong (maybe Indian or Asian?) accent, claiming to be from some company called "Safe secure protect." She said her name was Ross and gave two numbers: 0800 061 4327 and an extension 0345. She quickly launched into telling me I was paying way too much on my appliance cover (something like over £20) but wasn’t willing to say how much she wanted to charge. She then asked for the make and age of my appliances and tried pushing for my bank details. I told her "No, thanks" and hung up right away! Added her number to my blocked list now.

Loads of calls keep coming through asking for Mr or Mrs Smith. I've told them nicely several times that no one here goes by that name. Honestly, I’m proper fed up now! Since I’ve got their phone number, I’m thinking of trying to track down their address and send them a bill for wasting my time. Reckon £0.10 a minute sounds fair enough!

Got a call from a woman who knew my name, claiming she had a better offer on my warranty. When I asked for more details, she only mentioned kitchen appliances but wouldn't say which ones exactly. I don’t have any warranties at all. When I told her quietly, “I reckon you’re trying to trick me,” she just hung up. Next time, I’m gonna stall them, pretend to search for my info, maybe make a cuppa while I’m at it.

I got a call from a lady called Kim, who had an Asian accent, saying my white goods cover for kitchen stuff was too expensive and could be better with Safe Secure Protect. I told her I didn’t even have any cover and asked which bank account she meant I was paying from. She mentioned four well-known high street companies. She seemed really nice and trustworthy. Quite a crafty scam, honestly. Just be careful because eventually they try to get your bank details. That’s when I nicely said no thanks.

Some guy called about updating my white goods insurance - he even knew my name and address. Problem is, I don’t even have any white goods insured. I let him go on for a bit before telling him I thought it was a scam trying to pull something dodgy. The call got cut off pretty sharp after that.

Got a call from a woman with an American accent, called herself “Raine”. She said my insurance for appliances was ending soon and that her firm, “Safe, Secure, Protect”, could reduce my payments - I don’t even have that kind of insurance! Seems like a total SCAM to me. Be careful! She tried to get me to confirm my bank info, and when I gave a completely different bank name, she just said “that’s right”. They’re only after your bank details, watch out!

Woman with a near-American way of talking on the phone about changing the cover for my appliances or something. Problem is, I don’t own any, and she called my work number (guessing some automated system?). When I told her I had no clue what she meant, she just ended the call. Bet she was after my bank info to 'tweak' my payments. Could definitely trick someone who's less wary. SCAM for sure!

Received a call about some "phone blocking service" and claimed I owed an admin fee from 2016. When I told them I wasn’t paying, they just ended the call. Marking this as dangerous since it could easily trick vulnerable people like those with dementia into handing over cash.

Got a call from someone saying they were from SS (never come across that company before) about a policy for white goods. Coincidentally I do have one, but since it wasn't with SS, I wasn't buying it. Got a call today (30/4/18) from a lady with an American accent, saying she wanted to talk about my 'white goods policy'. I've never even signed up for white goods insurance, so I just ended the call. But I can easily see how people with actual policies might get tricked by this kinda scam.

Somebody rang up saying they were from a white goods insurance company called 'SafeSecure'. They told my grandparents they'd get a better deal for being loyal clients. My grandparents didn’t hand over any info and just hung up in the end.

Like many others here, this is definitely a scam. They had incorrect details which I requested be deleted under the Data Protection Act. I kept telling them that I never had, nor would ever have, any kind of extra insurance on kitchen appliances despite the bloke claiming their records said otherwise. He kept pushing but I repeated my request to have all my data deleted under the Act. Eventually he said fine and ended the call. This number should be blocked in BT Call Protect, though I’m not sure why it isn’t already listed there???

Just got a call from an American lady - quite unusual! She said her name was Ann and was from Safe Secure, talking about some white goods cover I’m apparently paying for monthly. She wanted to switch me to some other plan that’d definitely end up costing me more. I’ve never had, nor ever will have, an extra policy for white goods since they’re already covered under my house contents insurance. If not, I’ll just buy a new one. She cut the call before I could even mention that I’m on the TPS list (not that it really helps much, but I’m on it anyway).

Beware of this fraudulent scheme: a clever woman posing as a representative from "Secure my Drains" attempted to deceive me. She claimed to offer comprehensive coverage and asked me to renew my certificate. However, I was fortunate to have already received genuine insurance from my water provider. Therefore, I can confirm that this is a shameless scam. I took note of the number provided by the caller, which belonged to a local company named "Secure my Drains." Utilizing the 1471 service, I identified the scammer's true contact number as 08000614236. It is strongly advised not to initiate any calls to this number.

I received a call claiming that my kitchen appliance warranty needed to be renewed, and the caller offered me a better deal. Upon asking for more specific information about the appliances and the insurance provider, the caller simply repeated the same details and mentioned having my name, address, and postal code. I explained to the caller that they must have obtained my number either from a third-party marketing company or dialed it randomly. Engaging in a back-and-forth exchange with these individuals can be quite entertaining. Ultimately, the caller ended up hanging up on me. It's a shame though, as I was actually hoping to waste their time for a change.

Like a few others here, I got a call from someone claiming to be Safe Secure, saying they were covering my kitchen stuff like the cooker, fridge and washing machine. They said it was £30 a month. WATCH OUT! This is definitely a SCAM. The moment they sense you’re not falling for it, they just cut the call. It’s really scary for the older or more trusting folks. I just got a call from some so-called call blocking company claiming they were updating their system. They asked me to verify my address and already had the first four digits of my card, then wanted the last five. I told them no way I’m giving that info out. I mentioned I still get loads of cold calls, and she said they only block about 70% right now, but if I paid a £149 admin fee, they’d block calls forever. On 4th April 2018, I received a call from Josh on extension 126. He claimed to be from the TPS and had limited information, only knowing my name and address. Surprisingly, he then proceeded to ask which bank I am with. Sensibly, I declined to provide such sensitive information over the phone. White Goods cover? Don’t bother, its a scam claiming they can save you money. I gave them a chance since I have a warranty on a kitchen appliance, but when the caller asked “how much did your washing machine cost again?” it was clear she wasn’t from my actual provider. From what I’ve read here, we’ve also been getting calls from “TPS” non stop last week, harassing us to pay for a service that supposedly is about to expire. These idiots should be shut down, they’re risky for older or vulnerable people.

Got a silent call and used this site to find out who it was. They’d rang us before, trying to get money for a contract I’m pretty sure we don’t have. They were real pushy, so I said I wanted all the info sent to the address on their contract. The bloke on the phone got really mad, and I ended up getting pretty annoyed too. Told him to either send the details or stop bothering us. I'm worried my husband might've paid if he’d picked up. Haven’t had any word from them until this silent call today, which went quiet as soon as I answered.

Some bloke rang me sayin I was signed up to TPS and paying by direct debit, which I knew was rubbish. He asked me to verify my name and then my address. I told him to cut the crap since I aint got no direct debit set up. Then he said they were takin money today from my account, so I just said, “Good luck with that, my account's closed.” After that he started getting all threatening, claimin I’d agreed to something two years ago. That’s when I just hung up.

It is quite evident that once you tell any of these call-blocking numbers to leave you alone, they continue to bother you with new numbers. In the past week alone, I've received calls from five different numbers, all with British accents, most likely from the same call centre. Fortunately, I have plenty of time on my hands to waste theirs. Perhaps OFCOM or any other relevant authority will eventually take action against these unscrupulous individuals, but it's important to maintain a philosophical perspective. Let's spare a thought for those unfortunate souls who have sunken as low as having to work for such disreputable organizations; they must lead pitiable lives indeed.

During my childhood days, I had a peculiar hobby of gathering train numbers. However, times have changed and now my collecting interests lie in call-blocking numbers! Engaging in this pastime is rather enjoyable, plus I can indulge in it from the comforts of my own abode

08000614236 - just a heads up if someone rings you from this number saying they’re from the TELEPHONE PREFERENCE SERVICE (TPS). According to the official TPS website, this service is COMPLETELY FREE, so you shouldn’t be asked for any payment. If they try to get money out of you, it’s a SCAM, so watch out.

My dad fell for something similar a couple years back. They somehow used his card info to pay for services from an aircon, heating and plumbing company. We did get the director's address and they threatened legal proceedings if we didn't pay, which we ended up doing. We’d already cancelled the contract before they even began. Just to add, the official telephone preference service doesn’t cost a penny.

08000614236 called my elderly mate again, causing her stress by insisting over and over that she pay for something she doesn't even have! It's really upsetting how much they're hassling her.

I had a chat with a lady who got proper annoyed when I told her I'd already paid up and wasn't paying again. She kept going on about some contract I supposedly signed. I asked her to send me a copy, and she said it would be £26.99 to do that. I just told her to send it over then. Still never got it, and I get calls nonstop. The moment they say hello, I just hang up straight away.

I got a call from 08000614236 this afternoon around 4.30pm. The person said they were from the telephone preference service and claimed i'd supposedly signed up for some payments. They said they were going to charge me almost £150 because they were "updating" the service. I told them i'd already got a call blocker set up as i wasnt happy with how the tps works and didnt see why i'd pay for something that doesnt do what it says. The caller said they would cancel the charge. After reading other comments, it seems like this might just be a scam to trick people out of money. Watch out!

A woman phoned me today claiming I owed £139 for some call blocking service. She actually mentioned my mum’s maiden name, which is an old password I don’t use anymore. I asked her to send an invoice but she wouldn’t, saying she’d send a receipt instead. That’s when I ended the call.

I received a notification stating that I have an outstanding balance of £147 for the service of blocking telephone numbers. According to them, I apparently requested this service two years ago, and they claim to have a recorded conversation with me as evidence. However, when I asked for the name of the person I had spoken to, the caller abruptly ended the phone call. The question remains: Who exactly are these individuals?

This bloke rang me up, knew my name and some ancient password from ages ago. Said he was from the TPS and that I’d somehow signed up about two years back and now owed £144. He claimed he had a contract to prove it, but when I asked to see it, I just hung up on him.

Got a call from a lady, quite courteous, said we’d signed up with them for blocking annoying calls. She gave a password that matched one we’ve used before and said we’ve been customers for 3 years, paying £189 upfront. Claimed they partner with BT, Sky and TalkTalk. Said she was calling from Salisbury to ask if we wanted to renew the company’s services. I asked for an email with her offer. She stayed really calm, confirmed the first part of my address correctly, and promised the info would arrive in about 5 to 7 days. I’ve used 1572 to block the number.

Got a call today from someone saying they were from a call blocking firm called TPS. They mentioned a password I’d used before to make it sound legit. The bloke said they were updating their files and said I’d get a letter soon with a new complaints number 08007720592. When I googled that number afterwards, it’s actually a firm called Secure My Drains! Then the guy asked me to tell him which bank I use to pay my landline bills, so I just ended the call there.
