I just got an email from PayPal requesting my approval for a payment of £779.49 to something called VIPRE SECURITY, with the email address [email protected] attached. It said, “You’ve paid £779.49 GBP to VIPRE SECURITY. If this isn’t correct, please cancel the order right away at +44-800-058-4585.” Let me be clear: it’s a total scam! I’ve never even heard of VIPRE SECURITY before, nor do I have any clue who Maryjane Hermiston is. Trust me, I’d never engage in a security contract with anyone using an Outlook email account!

Suspicious PayPal correspondence.

Suspicious PayPal request... I’ve received a bizarre request for £779.49 from a certain Professor Lavern Purdy. Interestingly, there’s an invitation to ring a number if I wish to avoid making this payment. What’s unnerving is that this request has shown up in my PayPal activity as well! Quite alarming, I must say!

I’ve just received a PayPal request for more than £700, masquerading as communication from a cyber security firm.

Just like the others mentioned, I've also received a rather dubious email purportedly from PayPal, and coincidentally, it’s arrived at a similar time. Here’s what it said: Requested sum £779.49 GBP MESSAGE FROM Deanna Christiansen: You have transferred £779.49 GBP to VIPRE SECURITY. If this transaction isn’t something you wish to proceed with, kindly cancel the order immediately by ringing +44-800-058-4585. I can only imagine that a phone call to that number will lead them to request my banking information to 'assist' with the cancellation - it’s the classic play of a scammer!

I've received a rather dubious email purportedly from Paypal, but something doesn't quite sit right with it. Here’s what I got: **Payment request specifics** - **Requested Amount:** £779.49 GBP - **Message from Major Johnston:** "You're being charged £779.49 GBP for VIPRE SECURITY. If you didn’t intend to authorise this payment, kindly cancel the order immediately by calling +44-800-058-4585." - **Transaction ID:** U-4S541951B0316762G - **Date of transaction:** 20th December 2022 The curious thing is, this email landed in an inbox of mine that isn’t even linked to a Paypal account-I checked by attempting to reset the password on Paypal's official site. I'm certain that if one were to ring that number, they’d be fishing for bank or Paypal login credentials. Definitely a scam!

I've had the same experience as others have mentioned. If you head over to your PayPal account, you should be able to cancel the 'transaction' by simply clicking the cancel option.

Received a call purporting to be from PayPal, but I certainly didn't ask for any money to be sent! Not planning on returning the call either!

Received an email from PayPal featuring this number, which contained a suspicious money request. Interestingly, it popped up in my PayPal account too, just like many other users have mentioned. Do be cautious about what you click! I promptly rejected the money request and have lodged a report with PayPal about it.

I just got an email from Paypal requesting that I approve a payment of £779.49 to something called VIPRE SECURITY, supposedly from the email address MaryjaneHermiston0077. The message said "You’ve paid £779.49 GBP to VIPRE SECURITY. If you didn’t mean to do this, please cancel the order immediately at +44-800-058-4585." Clearly, this is a SCAM! I’ve never come across VIPRE SECURITY before, and I don’t recognise Maryjane Hermiston at all. Plus, there’s no way I’d enter into a security agreement with someone using an Outlook email address! Absolutely not!

I just got an email from someone named Elisha Bernier, and it looks like they've sent me a request for £779.49. The note says that I've supposedly paid this amount to VIPRE SECURITY. If I don’t want to go ahead with this payment, it seems I should cancel the order right away by calling +44-800-058-4585. The transaction ID is U-167333OPF1024723, and it looks like this was all logged on the 20th of December last year. Quite concerning, to say the least!
