Turns out it’s linked to Sainsbury’s for their click and collect orders, and they were after an urgent payment because my previous one was declined. They will request some security questions and do indeed ask for your bank details. To make sure it was legit, I threw my own security queries at them, like what substitutions were made in my last order or the exact amount debited from my account recently. In the end, I managed to pay over the phone with just my card number and expiry date-no CVV was required. Always double-check your security before dishing out any payment information. On my first attempt, I was met with a rather curt woman who didn’t bother explaining anything and insisted on getting my personal details before she'd even chat. Naturally, I ended the call. The second time round, a different lady picked up; she was much more understanding and took the time to respond to all my queries regarding my account. After supplying my security replies, she accessed everything perfectly and went through the security checks with me. I completed the payment without any hassle. Always stay vigilant for potential scams, but luckily on this occasion, everything was above board.
