Virgin Media must not understand what "leave me alone, I’m not interested" means, even though I told them that loud and clear after they rang me five times in just one hour!!

Got a right nuisance from these folks, ringing us on two consecutive weeks at the same time, around six o'clock in the evening (the 16th and 17th of January 2011, to be precise). The following day, a woman claimed she was from Virgin Media and was after our surname! The chap who first called us mentioned something about a service we were supposedly using, but as soon as we interrupted and said we’d moved on from Virgin, he hung up quicker than you could blink. Clearly, he hasn't got the customer service skills! If she truly is with Virgin, then I can attest that their customer service was a right shambles!

They rang me twice but I couldn't tell who it was since they didn’t say a word. So I hung up after about 4 seconds and ended up blocking the number as well. That said, it might have been Virgin Media. We’d cancelled our order with them as we were really let down - it took them six weeks to come out and supposedly set everything up, but then they said there was a tech issue and we’d have to wait another two months, which was just not on. Still, like someone mentioned below, it could’ve been a scam too.

I received a rather dodgy call promising a year's worth of free TV and broadband for just a single payment of £75. The caller was almost overly insistent, insisting on my debit card information and demanding I answer some security questions. When I inquired how they planned to verify my identity without already having my details, they flipped their lid! The chap became downright aggressive, telling me to "get lost" and threatening to order pizzas and taxis as a means of retaliation for my questions. It was completely out of order. I've now reported the incident to the police due to their menacing conduct and harassment.

This number was originally linked to Virgin, but these callers simply won’t take the hint. They bombard us with calls four to five times a day. At first, we asked them to ring us back after half past five, when we’re available to discuss the matter. However, they flatly refused to give our partner any clear information about the purpose of their calls. Since they’ve choose to ignore our requests, we’ve instructed him to hang up on them from now on. Should their annoying antics continue, we won’t hesitate to terminate all services with them. They have all our contact details, including our address and email, yet they persist with these bothersome calls.

This afternoon, I received a phone call from a chap who introduced himself as being from Virgin Media. He inquired whether I subscribed to Freesat TV or Sky. When I confirmed I was with Sky, he proceeded to ask if I had access to the movies and sports package. I informed him that I only had the sports channels. The gentleman then suggested he might be able to help me save a bit of cash, at which point I explained that my current plan was only set up the previous week - which was indeed the case. He expressed his disappointment, mentioning he could have potentially saved me some money, but graciously thanked me for my time and wished me a wonderful weekend. I've had a few calls from that number this past week, but they haven't left a single message on my voicemail. However, today was a bit different; I actually caught a bloke chatting about fancy brands or something similar. They cut off as soon as they realised they'd reached my answerphone, so I missed the rest of the conversation. I’ve set up the answerphone to help filter out those pesky cold calls, so as long as it’s draining their resources when the voicemail picks up, I’m absolutely fine with that!

Clearly, this is a dodgy phishing attempt. I opted not to share any details and terminated the call in less than a minute. A word of caution to all Virgin users: NEVER disclose your password unless you can absolutely verify that the individual on the other end is genuine. - caller: "Mark from Virgin Media" (or in reality, a sleazy fraudster)

In my opinion, Virgin Media has got their authentication process all muddled up. When a Virgin representative makes a call, they ought to first provide the customer with two letters from their password. If the customer disputes the characters, then both should simply end the conversation right there. It’s the customer who should be confirming their identity, not Virgin Media dictating the terms. Customers shouldn't have to divulge any personal details to a caller claiming to be from the company. Moreover, it would be sensible for the caller ID to be genuinely from Virgin Media so that customers could safely save such numbers to their contacts. - Caller: Virgin Media Team

Just as another commenter mentioned, our number isn't registered either, which is particularly worrying considering we care for a diabetic and elderly family member. When we initially received the call, we genuinely thought it was from the local hospital! It’s all rather upsetting. I'm currently leaving a voicemail to inform them that we’re switching our phone provider and the reasons behind it. Like many of you, we strongly believe in never sharing personal information with unsolicited callers, especially when companies like this could easily contact you via email or text instead. 😊

I received a call from this number purporting to be from Virgin Media. The caller droned on about some upgrades. However, since I'm on their list to avoid marketing calls, I realised it must be a scam. I decided to let him ramble on for a bit before I hung up. After that, I did a quick search online and discovered several websites warning that this number is unreliable. Subsequently, I took the precaution of blocking it on my phone. - Caller: Allegedly representing Virgin Media.

No clue. They hung up, but then two Virgin techs showed up today to fit a line - a line I’d already cancelled a few weeks back - so maybe it’s linked. I’ve blocked the number now.

Got a couple of calls from this number, answered one yesterday. They said they were Virgin Media, but then asked for my password to ‘verify my account’ so I just ended the call straight away.

They keep ringing non-stop, but never leave a voicemail. Most of the time, when you pick up, you just get silence or some kind of weird pause. It’s really annoying.

Fortunately, I’ve got a call blocking app installed on my phone, which has been a lifesaver! However, I’ve noticed from my call history that they’re trying to reach me almost every thirty seconds. If it turns out to be Virgin Media, I can categorically say that I won’t be returning to their services again, that’s for sure!

Shaw definitely possesses a TV licence, yet they call me up three to five times daily, which is utterly infuriating!

I received a rather dodgy call from this number, with someone purporting to be an agent from Virgin Media. They were keen to push some new services onto me but insisted, for security's sake, that I confirm my password as a means of proving I was the account holder. Thankfully, I had the good sense not to disclose my password! When I mentioned I wasn't interested in any new offerings, he abruptly said goodbye.

They keep calling nonstop all day long. I’ve only just got home after having knee surgery and really didn’t need these interruptions right now.

I've been receiving calls on my mobile from this number for ages now, and it feels like it’s never-ending. When will it actually stop?

I don’t possess a TV licence and have been inundated with numerous calls lately.

It appears to be Virgin Media. I'm a bit unclear on the exact department, however. We just missed a call from them, and when we tried returning the call, an automated message greeted us. We're not in debt to them whatsoever, so I don't reckon it's anything related to debt recovery! Hope that sheds some light on things. Cheers! xx

Received a call earlier today, and to my surprise, the voicemail was nothing but classical tunes! Not a word spoken, just a rather peculiar melody playing away. Quite strange, to say the least!

Over the past three days, this number has rung my phone around five times. I've purposely chosen not to pick up any of these calls and I don’t plan on doing so at any point. It's simply irritating! If I was keen on making any upgrades, I’d be more than capable of reaching out myself. Virgin, for goodness' sake, spare us the hassle!

I received a call from this number claiming to be from Virgin Media, inquiring whether I was satisfied with their service. I responded affirmatively, and they simply said "great, goodbye," before hanging up. Quite peculiar that they didn’t try to pitch any of their additional services. The operator didn’t bother to introduce herself, just mentioned she was calling on behalf of Virgin Media. Strange behaviour, if you ask me!

I received a call from this number, so we decided to return the call and found out it belongs to Virgin Media. However, I've no idea what they were after since they didn't bother to leave a message. I wouldn't be surprised if they were trying to pitch us some new offer or service!

I had a call from someone purporting to be from Virgin Media, claiming they were providing an upgrade. They asked for the first two letters of my password, and rather naively, I disclosed them. They then told me that my response was incorrect and prompted me to change my password. I immediately ended the conversation at that point.
