Got a message from this number saying it was from AVIVA, but it looks dodgy to me. No proper details or anything that ties it to AVIVA, and the number doesn’t seem to line up with their usual contacts. Feels like a scam to me.

I just renewed my car insurance with Aviva and then got a text saying my payment didn’t go through and to ring this number. I even got the OTP from my bank so I know the payment worked! How on earth do these scammers know I’ve just sorted my car insurance? It’s proper sneaky.

A letter addressed to Mr Elder at our elderly family member's home in North Wales arrived with this number on it. Although the letter seemed authentic, the postcode didn't match Aviva's, and the financial info had nothing to do with our relative. The phone number also seemed fake. Seems like a scam trying to target older folks.

I’ve just had a dodgy letter through my letterbox, purporting to be from Aviva. It seems rather fishy, to say the least!

I had the same thing happen to me. Turns out that number is linked to Aviva. Best thing to do is ring them directly using the official contact on their website to double check.

Got a letter through the door, supposedly from AVIVA Car Insurance, saying my Direct Debit had bounced. It asked me to ring a number straight away and give my bank details to avoid a default notice. But honestly, I can pay by card if needed! Yeah, right, like I’m going to do that! My bank actually told me not to call the number. The letter had this number 0800 051 2210 and threatened me with action under "SECTION 87 (1) of the Consumer Credit Act 1974". They even included a policy number starting with MMV, which looks like a genuine AVIVA prefix. I’ve phoned and emailed the real customer service people at AVIVA twice but all I got was rubbish. Even though I told them I never signed up for AVIVA car insurance, they just dumped my complaint into some investigation pile. They’re claiming I have until 24th October 2019 to sort this before legal action starts. Honestly, AVIVA, it’s shocking you let this scam keep happening without sorting it out! What a disgrace.

I got a letter from Aviva saying I’d missed a monthly payment, which was true because my card got cancelled and replaced. The bank told me the payment didn’t go through, so I do believe this is genuinely from Aviva Collections like someone else mentioned. I’m careful though since some of my info was exposed in that Equifax hack recently.

Total scam, no doubt
They say they're from Aviva's motor insurance recovery team demanding £470 for cancelling a policy.

Problem is, I've never taken out any car insurance with Aviva.
They also fail to say which car supposedly insured.
Pretty clear they have no clue.

I managed to track down a different phone number for AVIVA and they assured me the message was legit. Turns out, my card had actually run out and needed renewing. If you're unsure, it's pretty straightforward to find another contact number for AVIVA on their website.

Received a dodgy letter claiming to be from Aviva, asking for my bank details under the guise of a default on motor insurance. After checking, I can confirm this isn’t from Aviva at all. Definitely a scam. Proceed with caution!

Hey, I got a call from someone saying they were from Aviva about a balance of £276.42 for a motor insurance policy that was supposedly cancelled or expired. They asked me to ring 08000512210 to sort it out. Thing is, I’ve already checked with Aviva directly and it’s not them. Bit fishy, if you ask me.
