I received an unexpected phone call from a chap who seemed to know my name and even my postcode! He inquired whether I had drafted a will before or if this would be my initial one. He also asked if I had children under the age of 18 and whether we own our home outright. The whole conversation caught me off guard, to say the least. He mentioned he was from Elm Financial and Legal Services but didn't bother to introduce himself. Curiously, he only spoke about sending some information through the post and promised a follow-up call the following week. It felt peculiar since the call was rather short, and he hung up on me without further ado. I can’t shake the feeling that this might have been a scam. Interestingly, my husband and I had been mulling over the subject of wills recently, but we've not contacted any will-writing services ourselves. I've since blocked his number for good measure.

These are just scammers. Blocking them doesn’t really help coz they just ring you again from another fake number. Best thing is to take action and report them. Search for ‘action fraud’ and visit the UK police website. Then go to the phishing report section, scroll down and fill out the quick form to report it.
