Just got a voicemail and a text straight after I placed an order online, and turns out it was Santander Fraud Prevention. Like someone else said, their messages come across so dodgy it’s no wonder folks get suspicious.

A number, 08000488554, called me earlier but it was just an automated message claiming to be from Santander. I decided to call Santander using the phone number on my credit card and found out they’d been attempting to contact me about two suspicious purchases on my card.

Today i got a call from 08000488554 saying they were from santander warning me about some strange activity on my debit card. I checked with santander myself and they said it was definitely a phishing attempt to get my bank info. They rang me three times in total, but i didn’t fall for it. These callers are just scammers trying their luck.

Got a call from some muppets pretending to be from my bank, asking for my credit card info and all that. No way was I giving it to them. I told my bank straight away about it, and I'd tell anyone else to do the same if they get a sketchy call like that.

This number isn’t legit, don’t listen to anyone saying otherwise. They rang my mum and dad saying it was urgent and told them to ring a certain number. Mum and dad didn’t answer at first, but got two more calls later that evening. So my dad decided to call the 0800 number back, and the automated message said there was an emergency with his card and asked for his card details. No proper bank would ever ask you to do that! He’s since contacted his local bank branch to report what happened.

This number isn’t some dodgy scam, it’s actually Santander’s fraud prevention team. Loads of folks just search the number and then wrongly claim it’s a scam, which just causes more confusion and people running in circles thinking it’s not legit. I called Santander directly using the number on the back of my card and they confirmed they do call and text from that number. The way Santander’s automated messages sound makes them come across like a rubbish scam call, which doesn’t help. Plus, if their staff tell customers the number isn’t theirs by mistake, that’s just poor and adds to the mess.

This number kept ringing me on my mobile and then my home phone. My mobile's been flooded with messages and I reckon there are two voicemail messages from them too - such a pain! They claimed to be from Santander, saying my card was used somewhere else. Honestly, it feels like they’re trying to scam me out of my money by tricking me into giving info. On a side note, just before this started, I’d entered my credit card details into some Amazon Prime survey; I was actually on the site to cancel my subscription. Not sure if that had anything to do with it, but the timing was suspiciously close.

I got loads of calls from this number within a couple hours, saying they were from Santander’s Fraud team. When I answered, a robot voice kicked in asking for my DOB, so I just hammered the # button. If it was really Santander, they’d put you through to a real person, not some automated message. I looked up the number online and turns out it’s a total scam, nothing to do with Santander at all!
