I received a message from Santander’s Fraud Prevention team. Almost right after I made an online purchase, I was greeted with a text and a voicemail. It's interesting to note, as someone else has pointed out, that their message comes across as quite suspicious, almost like a scam. It doesn't really inspire confidence, does it?

Today i got a call from 08000488554 saying they were from santander warning me about some strange activity on my debit card. I checked with santander myself and they said it was definitely a phishing attempt to get my bank info. They rang me three times in total, but i didn’t fall for it. These callers are just scammers trying their luck.

Got a call from some muppets pretending to be from my bank, asking for my credit card info and all that. No way was I giving it to them. I told my bank straight away about it, and I'd tell anyone else to do the same if they get a sketchy call like that.

Just had a call a short while back featuring a pre-recorded voice stating, "Greetings, this is regarding a crucial security matter..." At that point, I opted to hang up. Considering I don't have an account with Santander, even if it were indeed them, their call would serve no purpose whatsoever!

This number isn’t legit, don’t listen to anyone saying otherwise. They rang my mum and dad saying it was urgent and told them to ring a certain number. Mum and dad didn’t answer at first, but got two more calls later that evening. So my dad decided to call the 0800 number back, and the automated message said there was an emergency with his card and asked for his card details. No proper bank would ever ask you to do that! He’s since contacted his local bank branch to report what happened.

It's quite frustrating how some folks merely type it into Google and jump to the conclusion that it's a scam without any real evidence, right? This erroneous belief just perpetuates confusion and leads to more misinformation.

I reached out to Santander using the number printed on my card, and they verified that they indeed make calls and send texts from this number. Honestly, Santander doesn’t do themselves any favours with their automated systems-they sound just like those dodgy scams! It’s rather baffling that they might mistakenly inform customers that they don’t own this number.
