A few months down the line, someone rang pretending to be Microsoft support again, saying they needed to check the computer hadn’t been hacked again, sharing a bunch of numbers to confirm it was legit. They were told this was normal after a virus. My mate went along with it, but then a very inappropriate website popped up. Not long after, another call came through, this time admitting they were a scam and now pretending to be the real Microsoft support. They tried to sell a £300 ‘hacker protection’ service.
