Seems like it was a robot call at first, then switched to a northern accent. They said they were from npower about a recent payment, then mentioned crossed wires and hung up. Best to steer clear.

Total scam alert. I had a chat with some bloke who claimed I owed cash - sounded real at first, but I looked up the number online and saw what others said, so I stayed wary. Then when they passed me to ‘another department’, the woman there was clueless and hung up on me. Got this call about 7.20pm. Don’t hand over any money. If you reckon it might be genuine, just ring Npower yourself and confirm straight with them.

They said they were from Npower but wouldn’t share any more info unless I answered some 'security' questions. I said no thanks and hung up because I’ve already changed suppliers and paid my final Npower bill today.

Yeah I can say this is npower for sure - it's the number they use for bills and payments calls. I just got a ring from them but then my phone ended up dropping the call halfway through. I looked up their customer service number online (which isnt the same one) and called them back. They told me it was the bills and payments team trying to reach me, so no doubt it was them.

Npower financial services called me, just be careful and don’t share any info you’re not comfortable with. Ask them to confirm their identity properly. If it’s really npower, they should have no trouble reassuring you that it’s legit.

The caller claimed to be from npower and said I had an outstanding balance, but since I pay on prepay, that couldn't be right. They kept insisting I owed them money and said they’d pass me onto their payments team, but then suddenly the call just ended. Made me think it was a scam and they were probably trying to get my bank info, which they definitely weren’t getting.

They claimed to be from npower but i reckon it’s a scam. I used to have npower couple years back before switching to another company and now this random caller. They told me i owe £350 which definitely isn’t true. Kept asking if my direct debit was still active. I’m guessing they want you to say no so they can try and get your bank info to set it up again. Don’t fall for it and defo don’t give these scammers your details!

They called a couple times before I got to my phone. I don’t usually answer numbers I don't recognise, unless it’s local cause it could be a job interview or something. I looked it up and from what others say it might be npower, but I’m not sure and I’m not calling back anyway. I owe money, but they’ll have to wait till the 7th next month, coz I’ve no cash right now. If it was really urgent they’d have let it ring longer so I could at least grab my phone. Stuff like this just makes people think all 0800 calls are cold calls, which is why I never pick up.
