I got a text saying I needed to pay my Anglian Water bill, so I replied and made the payment. But it felt a bit dodgy since the phone number I actually called was different from the one in the message. Plus, they never asked to verify my details, which really made me uneasy.

I reckon this is indeed a legitimate contact for Anglian Water. I got a text indicating that my bill needed settling. So, I cautiously navigated to their official site, making sure to enter my passwords securely, and confirmed that I indeed was a month behind on my payment.
I didn't follow any links from the message since it raised a few red flags for me. Nonetheless, the truth is I did owe them the cash. They also rang me from the same number, finishing with...809.
