I received a call on the 21st of December, 2021. As soon as I picked up the receiver, they hung up! I couldn't help but wonder what their purpose was for calling me in the first place. It was rather odd, to say the least.

I recently encountered a right dodgy number. It led me to a cheeky Facebook page about dogs, and to my shock, it completely seized control of my laptop. A message popped up, insisting I couldn't turn off my computer and should call a so-called 'Microsoft' hotline. The blimmin’ alert just kept playing over and over. After a moment's thought, I opted to shut my laptop down and dig into the number further. I'm now battling a potential virus, as keeping your device on gives them the chance to siphon off your data. Just a heads up about this caller: 08000418050.

I encountered a similar issue, where my computer suddenly became unresponsive and displayed a message suggesting I contact a certain number. It didn’t take long for me to understand that it was nothing more than a scam. I swiftly accessed Task Manager and terminated the Microsoft Edge process, which resolved the problem. As for the call I received, it stemmed from a post on Facebook, featuring a tale about some supposedly rescued puppies that turned out to be anything but! That’s what caused my computer to seize up in the first place.

My Mum experienced something identical just now. We reckon it's best to avoid picking up. The call came through with dodgy reception, sounded international, and frankly, a bit shoddy.

I encountered the exact message that Jane mentioned earlier, but luckily, I managed to get rid of it in the end. I didn’t bother calling the number, as it sounded rather dodgy. Cheers to everyone for confirming it was a scam! - number: 08000419050

I've just experienced a rather similar situation where my screen became suddenly locked, and it was urging me to call this number in a complete state of panic. Naturally, I didn’t proceed with that. I opted to power down my computer, as it all seemed rather dodgy. Everything appears to be fine now. I had been on Facebook, but I can’t recall what exactly I clicked on, as I’ve already removed all the advertisements.

I recently found myself in a predicament akin to what Jane detailed earlier. I received an alarming message through a Facebook news link that raised my suspicions. When they began requesting information, I probed further, questioning, "What proof do you have that you’re actually from Microsoft?" Their reply was rather lacklustre - simply stating, "Because I am." Hardly reassuring, if you ask me! Trusting my gut, I promptly ended the call. I then reached out to PC World for assistance, and they efficiently guided me through the process of cleansing my screen. No doubt about it, this was a sly attempt at scamming.

Absolutely, I’ve just experienced the very same issue! I hesitantly rang the number and implied it was all rather dodgy... then, lo and behold, they struggled to catch a word I was saying! I did a quick search online for the number and, well, here I find myself! I've decided to close my laptop and take a little breather now! - caller: Yours Truly

I received a notification on my computer after engaging with a Facebook advertisement. The site claimed it was Microsoft Support and urged me not to shut down my device. My mouse was unresponsive, leaving me with no options. Eventually, I dialled the number using my home phone. However, as the dialogue progressed, I felt increasingly uneasy, so I decided to take a chance and restart my computer. Fortunately, everything was fine afterwards, so I terminated the call. Almost immediately after, I was bombarded with nine calls from different mobile numbers. Three of them left me voicemails, one of which expressed their displeasure at my abrupt hang-up and warned that they would block my number from future contact. This was clearly not a legitimate Microsoft operation.
