12 yearsGot a call on my TPS-listed phone from someone saying they were with the “UK Funding Corporation”. A bloke who gave his name as Alex Wilson (which sounds totally made up) rang me on 02/02/15 around 2:10pm. You could hear a proper noisy call centre in the background. He tried to tell me I might qualify for some kind of “benefit to clear my debts”, which was odd since I don’t owe anything at all. When I asked for more info about where they were based, he said Manchester but then gave me a Preston postcode: PR7 5BW. When I asked him again for the postcode later, he quickly changed it to PR7 6BW. He bandied around terms like “FCA regulated” a few times, so I asked him what their FCA registration number was. He just refused to say, saying they couldn’t share that info. Very dodgy. He also told me his manager would be in touch, but honestly, I don’t expect to hear back.
