I got calls from someone called Oliver claiming to be from email support, saying my emails had a virus and he needed access to my computer. I told him I'd check it out and then just ended the call. They kept ringing me back about five times before I finally picked up again.

I got a call earlier today from a private number, and the guy on the other end got pretty pushy when I said I suspected it was a scam. He asked to speak to my sons, saying one of them would deal with it, but all I kept hearing was "get your computer now!" I told him I was ending the call right then. The number he gave me to prove who he was was 0800 014 8738. He kept claiming my computer needed an update and that I'd already purchased their service last year - said I must have forgotten about it!

Got a call that seemed dodgy. Rang up BT's support team and they told me they never do calls like that. Definitely a scam in my book.

Got a call from someone named Paul Collins with a strong Indian accent telling me my email security was compromised and offered to fix it. After chatting for a bit, I asked for proof of who they were. They gave me the number 0800 014 8738, so I rang it myself. It was indeed BT security, and they confirmed the caller’s identity. Then came the catch - they tried to push some ID fraud protection software costing £386 for a two-year single device licence, or £345 for four years covering all my gadgets. I said no thanks and ended the call.

I received this phone number from what I can only describe as rather dubious characters, who seem intent on swindling me out of my cash by claiming they can safeguard my identity from the clutches of hackers.
