Phone number ☎️ 08000148293 👆 is reported as a scam involving an English-speaking woman with a neutral accent who interrupts computer sessions, falsely claiming a serious virus infection and urging victims to call the number. Despite having reputable antivirus software, users have found scammers bypass security measures and display fake Microsoft logos to convince individuals to seek costly and unnecessary repairs. The operation is believed to be run by an Indian-based group active since 2006, exploiting vulnerabilities and evading filters from major providers. Victims are advised to be vigilant and report such incidents via search engines, as official organisations may be slow or ineffective in addressing the fraud.

10 yearsA woman speaking English with a standard accent just cut into my wife’s time on her laptop. Suddenly, a seemingly legitimate Microsoft logo popped up with a message instructing us to call this number due to our laptop allegedly being compromised by a 'W32' virus. We promptly shut the laptop down and did a search for the number using our desktop, and luckily came across this site. Despite having McAfee fully installed via BT, it appears the scammers managed to bypass it. How on earth does that even happen?MicrosoftMcAfee10 yearsI reckon this lot hails from India and appears to be a right band of crooks pushing the BLASTER virus. They wangle their way past all the defences set by BT and Microsoft, effectively locking up your computer and then extorting you for cash to sort it out. Apparently, they've been at it since 2006! The only way victims can lodge a complaint seems to be through GOOGLE, as both BT and Microsoft just send you round in circles. Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if some of their so-called specialists are in cahoots with the fraudsters and ought to be banged up. - Arthur Langley, BrightonIndiaBTMicrosoftArthur LangleyBrightonSubmit Your Own Report (0800 014 8293)
