Phone number ☎️ 08000124770 👆 is reported as a scam targeting mainly elderly folks, falsely claiming to work with BT or offering services like nuisance call blocking for a fee. Victims have been pressured into paying substantial amounts, with some callers even getting angry when declined. Affected users have reported these calls to authorities like trading standards and specialist police, but getting refunds seems difficult due to timing. Many find the calls suspicious, often with silent or dead lines when answered, suggesting it's a tactic to trick people. Promises of call blocking services come with hidden charges, apparently benefiting the scammers rather than helping victims. Multiple attempts to contact the callers go unanswered, reinforcing concerns about their legitimacy.

9 yearsAbsolutely a scam! These callers change their numbers like it’s a game. They even deceived my elderly mother by claiming to be affiliated with BT. She ended up handing over £84.99 supposedly for a lifetime service. Fast forward a year, and they ring her again wanting her to renew her “subscription” with some outfit they call IT Protect, demanding yet another fee. When she refused, the caller became quite aggressive with her! My mum shared the whole ordeal with me, and we promptly reported it to Trading Standards, who then involved the specialist police unit tackling fraud. Sadly, by that point, too much time had elapsed to reclaim her money. They’ve now contacted her once more, and I’ve made another report about their relentless antics.BTIT ProtectTrading Standards10 yearsIsn’t it just peculiar? I received a call from the number 02349998911. I picked it up, and to my surprise, there was just silence before the line went dead. Fast forward about fifteen minutes, and I received another call from 08000124770. They claimed to be conducting a survey about annoying phone calls. I couldn’t help but connect the dots; could this be a ruse to extract money? They mentioned something about blocking those pesky calls, and the price was supposedly around £1.80 a month. It made me ponder; if a significant number of folks signed on, that could amount to quite the sum for essentially doing nothing!10 yearsI've received numerous calls from a lady named Charmaine who claims to be with IT Protect, and it seems her services aim to eliminate annoying calls - for a fee, of course. Funny how those who’re supposed to help seem to be contributing to the very issue they're trying to remedy!CharmaineIT11 yearsI've attempted to reach out to this number five times now, and each time they assured me they'd return my call, yet here I am, still waiting.Submit Your Own Report (0800 012 4770)
