The lady on the line insisted I was still living there, which isn’t true. I explained I’d moved and switched my account to my current home, even gave her the account number. She said she’d look into it, put me on hold for a few minutes, then suddenly the call dropped.

Around a year and a half ago, I noticed an unusually high water bill. Thames Water came out to inspect and told me the meter was broken. Later on, they discovered a burst pipe. I called Thames Water to ask about the charges, and they assured me I wouldn’t be charged until the problem was sorted because of the faulty meter and the leak. But they really took their time sorting it. Fast forward a month ago, all the repairs were done, and now Thames Water is contacting me demanding nearly a thousand quid in unpaid bills. Bit odd they never mentioned any of this until after they fixed the meter.

This number is from Thames Water, they mostly ring you if you’ve got a late payment. Don’t worry about picking up, even if you owe money. The folks on the other end are quite friendly and might help you sort things out or delay your payment if you’re struggling. I was late with a bill once and the lady I spoke to was really understanding, she gave me extra time when I explained my situation, and I managed to pay by then without any hassle. I actually end up calling this number to sort my water bills since I get my statements through the post.

WATCH OUT, IT'S A SCAM! Thames Water would never ring you from this number. I’d just paid my bills when they called and somehow had my full name. They started asking for my address and account info - DO NOT share anything with them! I just looked up Thames Water and called their local number to be sure. Turns out the number that showed up here is actually a scam. Nearly got fooled! Honestly, this site isn’t very reliable.

Got a text from this number saying I owe money to Thames Water and that I should ring them back, even gave a supposed account number for Thames Water. The thing is, I don’t even live in London. I called the number and the person on the other end sounded really convincing, saying it must have been a mistake and a wrong text sent to me. Honestly, sounded quite believable.

This number keeps ringing me up, and they already knew my full name and address - yeah, right! I got pretty suspicious when they started asking for my date of birth, which I refused to give. I told them I’d reach out to Thames Water on my own because I didn’t trust them at all. They claimed it was some sort of security check... hmmm, my first thought was, are they trying to nick my identity?

I received a call from this number, but I chose not to pick up at the time. Out of sheer curiosity, I decided to call it back, only to be greeted by a pre-recorded message concerning payments and setting up payment plans. Oddly enough, there was no mention of the company behind the call, which struck me as rather unusual.

Yeah, it's definitely Thames Water. I didn't ring the number they texted but used the one on their official site instead as I saw loads of people saying it's a scam. Turns out, it really was Thames Water calling.

Received a call on the 4th of August 2023 at 3:10 PM. I didn’t pick up, so I’ve now blocked the number.

It seems these scammers are getting crafty and are now using 0800 numbers to trick people. Best to keep your personal details, like your address and account numbers, to yourself. Stay safe out there!

Got loads of texts telling me to pay online or ring them up. I phoned as I was sure I didn’t owe anything to Thames Water, but the person on the phone sounded really convincing at first. Just a heads up, this is 100% a scam. My phone actually flagged the number as ‘spam’ when I dialled it.

I received a message informing me that my credit score could take a hit if I don’t settle a bill on thameswater.co.uk/pay. However, the number that sent it isn’t affiliated with Thames Water at all. To top it off, I’m not even a customer of theirs! Quite peculiar, don’t you think?

Total water scam, I get about 2 or 3 calls or texts every week from these scammers, probably from India. The police either don’t bother or might be involved, who knows. Best thing is don’t answer or reply, even if you really want to tell them to get lost and find real work. The calls just won’t stop. It’s safer to report them so no elderly folks end up giving their bank info to these crooks.
